Amazingly quaint little restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. We arrived at Happy Hour and got a few $5 caiparinhas and then upgraded to the pisco sour when happy hour ended. Both drinks were flavorful, but the caiparinha was a little on the weaker side and didn’t have the typical multiple muddled limes I would normally expect.

La Onda is easily the best food I’ve had in Fort Worth. The freshness the chef presents with each dish is unparalleled in the area. After chatting with him and his staff I’ve grown to truly appreciate what he’s attempting to do. Because of this experience I’ll be heading to Fort Worth many more times as opposed to always thinking Dallas has the best options. You should definitely check out La Onda.

Artisan aged seafood, with a chef that has flair and an eclectic flavor profile. Race street is it the new standard for seafood in DFW? Being so land locked in this area some times it is hard to come by a great seafood restaurant. But, if you find your way to RACE street you have two options for great seafood! Now this is a new take with a Hawaiian/Latin flare but with the care of the fish like the chef caught them himself. The fish is delivered weekly is normally dry aged between 5-10 days. This enhances the flavor of the fish you are eating. It also adds texture to the bits of fish though served ceviche/raw. Your tastebuds are kicking when you have so many different textures. I had the onda bowl, with lunch comes with a drink. Mexican coke it is please, the one made with sugar cane-sugar! So with the bowl the options are gravlax, ceviche, and shrimp. Me to you do the CEVICHE, this way you get the freshest dry aged catch of the week! Now this had carrots, red onions, green tomato salsa, black peel rice with a mixed greens, feta pumpkin seed salad on the side.

While the service and coziness of La Onda is so lovely, it’s the food that makes me remember it. The thoughtfulness of each dish is inspiring, and it feels like a delicious adventure every time we come.

Diamond in the rough restaurant with chef inspired meals that rotate weekly. So fortunate that we found this amazing seafood restaurant in Fort Worth. The special for this week was the dry aged swordfish! Server also recommended the weekly Ceviche which was truly amazing! This was such an awesome find and stands out in Fort Worth from other seafood restaurants for their weekly rotating selection of dry aged fish. Place is perfect for a family gathering or with someone special enjoying craft cocktails from the bar. Recommend the “Life’s a Risk, Carnal” which is a perfect combination of Zicaru Mezcal, passionfruit, Serrano-cilantro syrup, lime, and Techaucan sparkling. Take a risk and you will not regret the La Onda!

Underwhelming. The food was very good. However, the service was not. Made a 7:30 reservation which they didn’t have a record of. They weren’t busy so the hostess ask us to just sit anywhere we wanted. 2 of us sat at a table set up for 4. The waitress never cleared the the 2 extra place settings which were just silverware rolled up in a paper napkin with a paper ring ( like you would expect from a neighbor dinner, not a high end restaurant). Staff was friendly but not very attentive, especially considering there were only 3 tables being served in the entire restaurant. We had ceviche, shrimp and potatoes. Food was all very good but considering the low end dinner type atmosphere and service, pretty bold to ask for $20 for a small side of potatoes… oh but wait, they toss a thimble amount of caviar in the bowl of potatoes, so that makes them worth $20 right?… a bit pretentious. In the end, it’s good fresh food that is almost there, but just misses the mark on every dish. Like the ceviche for example, very good fish, but it’s served with store made corn tostadas snapped in 1/2 which takes the dish from a 9 to a 7. Everything trends toward a high end price, great food that’s under portioned in a dinner atmosphere with friendly cafeteria service.
