This was an incredibly authentic experience. The food had so many layers of flavor without being too aggressive. The chips and tortillas were the best I’ve had in the area. Clearly home made with a lot of love. The taco was so juicy and perfectly put together, I wish I had ordered more. Don’t let the appearance of the restaurant fool you. This hole in the wall is probably the best Mexican in the area if you prefer authentic food over Americanized cuisine. Will definitely come back.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the DSM area – everything is fantastic. Best torta, tacos, sopes, gorditas, salsa verde & picante, frijoles, etc. & the staff is sweet every time. Didn’t get photos this time because I ate it so quickly Thank you!

Food is good, but service wasn’t when I went in. The person at the front had an attitude and was making faces. I understand it can be a hassle sometimes especially when it’s really busy but there’s no need to be rude.

Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in a long time, and they don’t even sell alcohol!

I started a page on Facebook (Taco de Des Moines) a couple of years ago trying to find the best tacos in Des Moines. It’s here. Hand made tortillas, meat seasoned to perfection. Definitely a whole in a wall but delicious food.
