Roswell, NM is a favorite stopping point for travelers searching for aliens, bats, migratory birds, and caves. This writer came for baseball at the New Mexico Military Institute. And, as I typically do, I searched out the best local barbecue flavors.

This bbq was awful. The meat was dry and tough, the sides were bland, the cornbread was stale. Usually you can save any bbq meal with a good bbq sauce but their one and only sauce tasted horrible, unbalanced, and old. I haven’t been this disappointed with a dining experience in a long time. This was the worst bbq I’ve ever had.

The brisket was just like good ole Texas mesquite smoked meet. It was tinder with great smoke flavor. The owner had the good Texan hospitality. I wish I lived closer to eat their more often.

Great Texas style BBQ. Brisket had a nice smoke ring and a lot of mesquite flavor. Ribs were perfect – meat fell off the bone. Chicken was charred well with moist meat beneath the skin (leg and thigh). Homemade sauce has a nice vinegar twist with a bit of bourbon aftertaste. Beans are pintos in their own sauce. Coleslaw is made with a sweet poppy seed dressing that was surprisingly good. Cabbage was crisp and very fresh. Overall a great BBQ joint.

Amazing dinner tonight! We ordered a full rack of ribs, sausage, and smoked brisket. And, the potato salad, beans, and Mac and cheese for our sides. ALL of the food was incredible!! All four of us agreed that it was the best BBQ we’d had in years. Thank you!!

Stopped in to get some BBQ since we had not seen much since leaving Texas. This is a very cute little place. Tidy and clean. We ordered brisket and ribs to get. Good portions, meaty. Ribs had a lot of meat on them and tender. A teeny bit dry by the time we got home to eat them but the bbq sauce was very good and the cherry cobbler was a good finish. Tasted like true Texas BBQ.

Stopped here on a big road trip and came very hungry. Got half a chicken and slaw. Personally the chicken was a little dry for my taste but the flavor was very good as was the sauce they had on the table. The slaw was one of the best slaws I’ve ever had.

The ribs had no meat, the brisket was ok didnt seem fresh. The barbecue sauce had to much apple cider vinegar. The sides were ok. But stay away from the barbecue made me sick.

Absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend. Had the loaded baked potato. Yummy. Kids got pulled pork sandwich. Would stop by again when we pass through.

Food made us sick but it’s was fairly tasty, nice outdoor seating that’s dog friendly, plenty of parking, not busy at all even during the festival, funky smell inside and outside, staff wasn’t very friendly
