Really excellent food! Complimentary chips , salsa, and a delicious bean dip were brought to our table quickly after we sat down. The chips were fresh and not overly salty or greasy. We ordered some guacamole to start, it was freshly prepared and everyone enjoyed! Our entrees were wonderful. Fresh, perfectly seasoned, thoughtful presentations. The margaritas looked great although we didn’t order one this time, a good reason to return on our next visit to Salem. Service was very fast and friendly. Great spot for delicious Mexican food! They should really bottle their green sauce and salsa. Good stuff!

This was one of the best margaritas I have had in a resturant or bar in a very long time. I really enjoyed the crunchy shredded beef tacos, very well seasoned beef. The corn is so delicious, you can get it alone as a side or you can get it with a meal in lieu of rice and beans. The interior is a bit run down and the seating is not comfortable. Overall it was a good experience and I will definitely eat there again but probably do take out.

Well this is my first time at this place and I loved it. The service first of all was spot on. We were greeted and seated right away by a nice lady with a smiling face. The chips came with beans and fresh salsa. They were delicious. The food came out fresh and hot. We got our appetizer spaced perfectly before our main meal. It took longer than expected for our main meal but they checked in with us letting us know so we didn’t get irritated. My chicken fajita salad was amazing! The chicken breast covered the top and was full of flavor and juicy. It was the best one I have ever had. My boyfriend got steak tacos and they were just as delicious. The steak was tender and full of flavor with just plain rice with corn and black beans. I would highly recommend everyone to try this place!! I will definitely be going back to try everything else on the menu..

Some of the best food in Salem and super nice staff. They make everything fresh so it’s a little bit of a wait but soooo worth it! Pictured is the halibut tacos with black beans and elote. So incredibly delicious! My daughter and I split the ceviche and it was amazing! I forgot to take a picture. It’s high quality food so it’s more expensive than your average place but again soooo worth it. We weren’t drinking that night but we have had their margaritas in the past and the are also delicious! 10/10

Our first time to La Vida Catrina. The drinks AMAZING, chips, beans and salsa all homemade and delicious, the guacamole is my new favorite of any Mexican restaurant in town. I’m a vegan and the spinach enchilada’s (minus the cheese and sour cream) was perfect. The other meat dishes my family LOVED.

What an honor to have such a world class Mexican restaurant in a community like Salem Oregon. This family came from Newport Beach California and have worked for the famous Javier Sosa at both Newport Beach and Aria hotel in Las Vegas. Their food is not normal Mexican fare. It is world class center of the plate amazing flavor pairing as well as authentic. If you are looking for cheap Tex-Mex style Mexican, then this is not your place. The food is amazing and priced accordingly for the quality and expertise in preparation. The steak and prawn preparation at this restaurant is borderline of any five-star restaurant in Portland Oregon. The talent is second to none for this area. Their Margaritas are made 100% from scratch using 100 % agave tequilas. Wait times for the food on a busy night can be challenging because of the limited staff. Limited staff will not change because there’s not enough employees to go around not to mention it adds to the cost of your food. I go there and enjoy myself and I’m not in any hurry. You will never eat this level of Mexican food in Salem ever again and I’m sure the family will be moving to bigger and better Skies soon. Eat here while you can.
