A great local restaurant in Barre with a special atmosphere and good food! We were headed through Barre on our way to Woodstock and stopped at Ladder 1, and were very pleasantly surprised! The building was an old fire department and all the decor matched! In fact, the top floor itself was an inn that was entirely fireman themed as-well. The menu was enormous with enough sandwiches, pizzas, and burgers that anybody would find something they like. I tried the new peanut butter and jelly burger (my curiosity got the best of me), and actually really enjoyed it! Our whole table enjoyed the meals with no complaints whatsoever! Our waitress was extremely friendly too and made the overall meal even more enjoyable! Will definitely be back!

Very nice restaurant recommended by a local business to us. We were very happy we stopped in not only was a staff very nice, but so are some of the customers that were very friendly. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the food only for the fact that we’re so hungry And I went right to eating. I had a great roast beef sandwich while my wife had the Cobb salad. Definitely try this place out you will not regret it.

Great restaurant. The menu has so many items on it. And many of the items are very good. We had Fried Mushrooms, Chili Cheese Fries, Meatball Calzone, Chicken Tenders & Fries, a Burger and Hot Turkey with Gravy and Mashed Potatoes.

Came here for dinner on a Friday, place was packed but service was efficient. Ordered the spinach ravioli with spinach and mushrooms but received cheese ravioli instead which was still delicious. Family members enjoyed their picks from the large menu. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere.

No wait to be seated. Quick, pleasant service. Decent beer selection. Food came out very fast. Had a nice burger & 2 local beers. Pretty good live band (they said they have a live band every Thursday night) that ended at 8:30pm. A great overall experience. Looking forward to coming back next time I’m in Barre.

I just moved to the area and saw the good reviews for the Ladder 1 Grill so we decided to give it a try. Atmosphere and server were nice. However I will not be back. My “smothered” burger wasn’t smothered at all, but it was burnt beyond all recognition. Too bad with all the fireman memorabilia there wasn’t one on scene to save this burger from being incinerated.

Went in on Friday for dinner waitress was a bit rude didn’t come over to the table to check and see if the food was good. She may have had a bad day but if the passion isnt there it definitely brings the experience and and the atmosphere down. Then a different waitress came over and helped get my order right a big thanks to her. Cause when we got our order mine wasn’t right so the other waitress came over to help and when I got my order my family were done eating so I had to get a box. Ever sense I moved I haven’t been able to go there to eat and I would always look forward to coming to my home away from home. But unfortunately I won’t be back for awhile cause I don’t want my family going through that again cause that was very sad!

Good food, great service and wonderful decor in this period firehouse! It’s a fun place to meet friends and share a meal or snacks. They’ve done a marvelous job of collecting past and present fire department memorabilia, shirts and badges. We’re traveling the country and we’re only here one day, if we lived here this would be our hangout!

Beach Box Breaks
More a 2 star restaurant but the staff makes up for the 3rd. Excellent attention on the customer service side! Possibly one of the better restaurants in town but everything missed the flavor mark. Prime rib was under seasoned, if there was any at all, and very dry. Mashed potatoes seemed to be fresh but lacked all seasoning. The vegetable medley was 2 slivered halves of squash and zucchini with about 3 slivers of onion. Best flavor on the plate but the portion was less then the kids fries in a Happy Meal! Presentation was way off for a $30+ dinner. Prime rib was thrown across the smallest plate I’ve ever seen served on and just dropped right on top of the potatoes. Being new in town, we were expecting a whole lot more from one of the very few places that the locals will actually recommend.

Had cheese ravioli with steak tips & side salad. Ravioli was tasty but just lukewarm when served. Steak tips were tough & gristly. The sauce was very rich & tasty. Garlic bread was very good.
