The food was very bland for being Laotian food. This restaurant is very Americanized. It’s really lacking the laotian authentic flavors. My sister got the beef larp and it was too salty. The red curry was lacking flavor and bland. The chicken and papaya was also bland. I’m really particular with my papaya. It was missing crab paste, tamarind, and lime. It was also too sweet. The deep fried chick was too dry. My husband ordered the laotian sausage which was also very dry. The only good tasting food was their specialty chicken wings with sweet chili sauce. The service was very slow. We came right before the rush hour during dinner and were still waiting longer then expected for our food. It took us 45-50 mins to get all of our food. If you want true authentic food laotian food go to Ahan. The quality and the quantity is much better. The dishes here were small portions for the price of food you’re paying for. I’m honestly very disappointed bc I really love authentic Laotian food.

I’ve never had Laotian food before but I expected it to be similar to Thai, and it was. The food is very good and there’s a pretty wide variety of options. The stuffed chicken wings are my favorite thing that I had, so I definitely recommend that. The curries are all good too. My only complaint is how dark it was in there. Close to when we were leaving they turned on the lights for the dinner service, but it would have been nice to have that for our early dinner too

Lao Laan Xaang was amazing Laotian experience. The inside is beautifully decorated. The wait staff was fun and friendly. We had the special of the day, the OrLam beef stew. It was perfect for the negatives day we had today!! They served the dish to share — so nice!! — and with extra spice mix on the side for me (my wife doesn’t need the burn!) The iced Thai tea was some of the best we’ve ever had. They’re also very well known for their takeout, but we ate in. The waiter also mentioned when we were chatting that the cooks are Laotian natives, and so you have even more assurance of authenticity, and even more incentive to support this small restaurant. We DEFINITELY recommend this place for the food and atmosphere!

I feel like Loa Laan Xang doesn’t get mentioned enough in the Madison food scene for how great the food is. We went on a Friday night withoutna reservation and only waited maybe 10-15 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was prompt.

Went there for the first time last night celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Food was amazing. They offer 4 levels of spiciness. I went with 3 and it was perfect. The iced Thai Coffee and Tea is amazing. The service was top notch. Nice atmosphere inside. Seating is spaced out where you don’t feel cramped or feel like you’re sharing a meal with strangers sitting next to you. Can’t say enough good things about this place. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Food was amazing and service was pretty reasonable for a busy Friday dinner, despite being a quite remarkably loud environment. A bit pricey, but so tasty!
