Austin is full of hidden gems and Las Abuelas is one of them. It is located amongst a smattering of other food trucks so it is easy to overlook. Maybe when you go down to Valentina’s and are presented with a two hour wait you’ll decide you want to go elsewhere — and let me suggest Las Abuelas, which is located about a dozen steps away. But, to be honest, it’s worth making the trek down south just for it. Fried chicken sandwich Valhalla with a little Tex-Mex twist. The brunch fried chicken sandwich with MEXICAN COKE GLAZED BACON might be the best fried chicken sandwich in Austin right now. Don’t sleep on the refreshing hibiscus limeade either.

Easily one of the best if not the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Amazing combination of ingredients and the chicken breast was cooked so perfectly crispy. The Bandera tots were so delicious as well!

Everything was delicious! I even liked the pickled cabbage and i don’t like vegetables lol If you’re a chipotle spice lover you will love this place. The staff is also very nice and welcoming.

I combined the spicy chicken with the breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely AMAZING. It was the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had no joke. Add the avocado it’s worth it. And the guy who runs it couldn’t be nicer. Highly recommend.

Great place to add a Mexican twist on a delicious chicken sandwhich. Make sure and add the Bandera tots. When asked what was most popular, the owner suggested the Espicy chicken sandwhich. It had a great balance of kick and could easily put competitors to shame. The owner also suggested adding cheese and guacamole to the Espicy so I took the suggestion and was not disappointed.
