Located about a mile away from the main shopping district in Mt. Airy, Laurienzo’s Wood Fired Cafe is a place you don’t want to miss. It’s a great restaurant off of Main Street in old town Mount Airy that fits in perfect with the small town charm. When we walked into the restaurant it gave off a high class vibe with dark colors and nice lighting. There is a small bar area in the middle of the restaurant that serves cocktails and beer. I took my two kids on a Saturday for dinner and were seated immediately. Soon after, many people started coming in so I would recommend calling for reservations. There is also outdoor seating for when the weather permits outdoor dining. The service was great and the food exceeded my expectations as I was thinking it was mostly a pizza place. There are many options on the menu that all look great, and they have specials with unique choices that appear to change periodically. I ordered the carnivore pizza and have to say it was one of the best pizzas I have tasted. My daughter ordered the spinach and artichoke ravioli off of the specials menu and she really enjoyed it. My younger one had the spaghetti off of the kids menu. All of us were pleasantly impressed with the quality of the food and the atmosphere and will definitely come back. This is a great spot to take a date, bring your family, or anyone else looking for a great Italian restaurant in downtown Mt. Airy. I highly recommend stopping in. You won’t be disappointed.

Let me start by saying this is my favorite pizza in the area. But it is inconsistent with the pie being well done or normal bake. I never change my order on how to cook them. Picked up a cheese and pepperoni pie and I’m just not sure how you send out the cheese pizza when you have them both side by side. The cheese in my opinion is well well done with black crust and the pepperoni one was cooked to perfection. If it came out like that I think the cheese pie should of just been remade and just explained to the customer. I’d happily wait for it to be cooked correctly then get home and be disappointed. Still love the pizza when normal baked.

The Spinach Salad with chicken is one of my favorites. The Vidalia dressing is perfect.

Nicely decorated on the inside. Didn’t have to wait at all during lunch on a Saturday. Amazing cocktails. We got the mahi mahi and the Cajun pasta, both so delicious. Portions were large enough for leftovers.

Came here for dinner last night with friends. Plenty of room. I believe there are more tables upstairs but did not need to explore since it wasn’t overcrowded. The service was great as well as the food and drinks. Went with bunch of winos so they did some damage. A friend had the espresso martini so I gave it a try. It’s been about 30 years since I had some Kahlua Liqueur but that’s what it reminded me of. Great food, great atmosphere. Not much else to ask for when dining.

Ordered pizza tonight as well as two weeks ago and both times the pizza has had the same issues, way too much sauce and way too much cheese. No we didn’t order extra sauce or cheese. The pizza was soggy from way too much sauce and heavy, which basically caused the cheese to slide off. One bite in to the pizza and sauce poured out of the sides of the slice. I really do love the food, but getting frustrated at the lack of care going in to the pizza making. We also ordered a spare rib panini, which was good as always.

We had another absolutely wonderful time on our weekly date night at Laurienzos. I had a delicious margarita and we ordered the new jalepeno creamed corn appetizer and Mmmmm it was so good! Our pizza, overflowing with toppings was absolutely delicious. And to top off the night the staff is so delightful. Everyone is always so friendly and our server Sara so so sweet and very attentive. Can’t wait to come back again soon!
