Very nice little place for a quick bite to eat if you’re in downtown New Bern. They have a good selection of sandwiches and subs and also drinks. Beautiful experience sitting outside on the patio and enjoying the view. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place 5stars

Was an excellent respite after doing the tours at the palace before doing the museum. We shared a fantastic club sandwich with potato salad. It was huge and fresh and tasty and more than enough to share. Service was excellent. I would love to go back and eat outside in fairer weather with a cocktail or glass of wine. They have a beautiful river view with outside seating and a lonely inside cafe.

My family was stopping by New Bern for a few hours and decided on Lawton’s! We LOVED it. Our meals were delicious and the staff was so nice. Everything we got had great flavor and good portion sizes for the cost. We cannot wait to come back to New Bern again for this restaurant. Definitely a must try if you’re in the area!! The homemade sangria was some of the best I’ve had.

This is one of the few waterfront dining spots in downtown New Bern. I love going here for lunch with a book. It’s nice to sit outdoors by the river, even when it’s quite hot. The food is lunch fare- sandwiches, salads, hot dogs- but it’s all really good. The shrimp salad is great and their house Parmesan ranch is delicious. They also have panini tots and a good variety of hot dog toppings. They serve wine and beer which is another plus!

Such a charming little restaurant in the NC History Center with a beautiful view of the Trent River. One can even eat outside on the scenic patio. The staff was quite friendly and attentive (waitress refilled my drink three times). The menu is varied and food was delicious (the panini tots were awesome). I was impressed that the meat on the corned beef was so generous that it was divided and eaten by two people. A great place for a tasty lunch!

This is a small sandwich shop off of the Tryon Palace museum facing the river. They are EXCEPTIONAL! I’m not sure where to park for them and wish they were able to have more signage on the river front side, but I did manage and was so happy I did! Clean, bright and tastefully decorated. It is a little on the pricey side, but with so many options it’s well worth it! Large portions with easy clean up and a friendly staff.

Had a wonderful Saturday lunch here with no wait time! I got the number one all the way, it was dressed to perfection, and I didn’t even have to reassemble the sandwich (this is rare). The potato salad was also flavorful with lots of dill and sour cream. My husband got the Reuben which you can get with 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 pounds of your choice of meat. The 1/4 was plenty. His side salad was a GREAT size and the vinaigrette had a nice zip to it. The panini tots are where it’s at with pickled jalapeno goodness and oozy pimiento cheese.

We eat here on a fairly regular basis. This past week I enjoyed the delicious shrimp salad for the second time. The fruit salad that I had with it was exceptional and plentiful. The disappointing, plain saltines that come with it could be upgraded to a better cracker or dinner roll. Others that I have been with raves about the Rueben. The atmosphere indoors lacks “warmth” – but doesn’t keep us away. Both from an ecological and preference point of view, wish that the cups and utensils were not plastic. This is not an inexpensive place, so do expect better. Service is always friendly. Outdoor seating is great weather permitting. Beautiful views.

Best Reuben in this area. They use very good sauerkraut and homemade thousand island.

My wife ordered the Chicken Charlie and I ordered the Roast Beef sandwich with gluten free bread. Both items were great! We sat near the window and had a nice view of the water. We will come again next time we are in town.
