Overall an enjoyable time at Le Charlot. The service was a bit slow and quite loud indoors which we find typical with French restaurants. We enjoyed the appetizers more than the main courses, which we found to be a bit underwhelming. Overall a good restaurant for drinks and intimidate family meals.

Tiny seats, tiny tables and a very noisy ambiance despite the fact that in the middle of August it was only half full.

Will never come back here. Service was really bad and staff is totally unrespectful. We had to ask 5 times for the same thing and they brought the bottle of wine we had ordered at the beginning half way through our main course. After showing our disappointment the manager was shouting at us in the middle of the terrace and in front of all the other customers; and after he left inside the restaurant making mocking gestures laughing at us. On top – super expensive place. Do not come here.

Stop in about once a month, for it is close to where I have appointments.

Very dissatisfied with the quality of the food, the only upside was the service. The food lacks flavor, nuance, and authenticity. For dessert the crème brûlée did not have a crust to crack through and the crème beneath did not have a good texture. The tartare was mediocre, lacking in flavor. Salad was coated in oil rather than In vinaigrette, the oil tasted more like vegetable oil than any decent olive oil. Steak was tender yet both the meat and sauce lacked flavor. Overall I was disappointed with the food. The under-salting of the dish makes food taste bland, what’s worse is that once we added salt, the flavors just weren’t there, they lacked the nuance and complexity that you’d expect from a well made dish. Some of this is my fault though, I should’ve known better than to eat at a restaurant that has salt and pepper shakers at the table. A diner offers condiments to its customers, a chef who is confident in his dishes does not. Also the table was wobbly.

I had an amazing dining experience here and a big part of that was due to fantastic waiter Natalia. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, but the exceptional service is what really made the night special. Thank you for making our evening so memorable!

Lovely, small hole in the wall with the best French food in NYC, for me, yet. . . I liked many things on the menu but opted for the Branzino special. Served on haricots vert with a divine, light citrusy sauce highlighted with tiny pieces of grapefruit. Good French bread. Classic crème brulée to perfection. A yummy chocolate noir cake with a side of chantilly cream. Good cappuccino. The house wines were fine. I would return.
