The ingredients in every dish are thoughtfully curated. The ambiance is hip without being pretentious. The service is impeccable and personal. Every bite we had and every minute we were at Lewes Oyster House was awesome.

My daughter and I stopped into The Lewes Oyster House on Second Strret in Historic Lewes Delaware for dinner. It was very busy, but we were able to get a seat at the bar, and had a wonderful dining experience. First of all, the ambiance was impressive. Vintage looking tin ceilings, exposed brick walls, aged hardwood and brass fixtures really set the mood. I noticed a temperature controlled wine room, and a vintage set of tools on the bar for mixing craft cocktails. The rest rooms were clean and well provisioned despite the busy evening. The staff all seemed efficient, and moving in a fast, but not frenzied pace. Our bartender greeted us immediately, and offered drinks. We were starving, and after a few recommendations from her, we started with a dozed local oysters, followed by one of their signature baked Oyster dishes, Cowboys on horse back if I remember correctly. Both were fantastic, and memorable. Next we had fried calamari which was crispy and tender. So far so good! For our main course we had a Lobster Roll which easily rivaled anything we had on our trip to Martha’s Vineyard. (We added a Lobster topping to our fries as well as per the bartender’s suggestion) succulent, and good. Finally the key lime pie to top it all off. The service and food exceeded expectations. Wow. Kudos to all involved .

I enjoyed a delightful dinner of inventive concoctions! The blend of foods flavors was intriguing, impressive and did not disappoint! I sat at the oyster bar next one of their employees who came by to grab dinner with friends. You know a place is wonderful when the staff comes to get dinner there on their days off! He gave me detailed insight on the meticulous labor of love involved with preparations of the Peaches and Cream Sashimi. The oyster menu is detailed and creative in their descriptions. I really enjoyed the ability to order a variety of oysters within my half dozen order.

The oysters here are excellent, which obviously is important for an oyster house, but not always the case. They have some local East coast varieties including some from Delaware, and some from further away, but I generally opt to get local ones. The ones in the picture were from Delaware and Virginia, and I think New England.

Place is great! Staff was awesome and the food was terrific. MY wife has been trying to get roasted oysters. They were not on the lunch menu. They went out of there way to make them and they were terrific. If you can get the shrimp cocktail they are huge and delicious. Thank you! Bravo!

Four of us adults had a great dinner with two small kids. The service was great, and several of the wait staff commented on how well behaved our kids were. One had a feast on different things from our dinners. Fresh oysters, oyster stew, clam chowder, lobster roll, and salads all made a great feast.

Great meal and good service . We would certainly revisit. Both had fried clams , one with ham and aoli the other with buffalo sauce and gorgonzola – wonderful ! The crab dip was a hit as well as the black kale salad. Extensive drinks menu . No room left for dessert. The only very minor negative was being seated in a windowless back room – out in front looks much more appealing – maybe next time.

Two visits in two days . . . we couldn’t stay away. We enjoyed a nice dinner for four with everything from the ribeye to the oyster stew. Always start with the smoked salmon appetizer. Very tasty! Two of us went back the next day for lunch at the bar and had the chicken salad and the coconut shrimp. The wines were very good!
