If you want fresh, authentic Mediterranean/Middle East food, this is your place. You wouldn’t expect such a great experience in a strip mall, but the Kurdish owners have managed to make the space inviting with authentic decor and beautiful roses that greet you at the front door. The outdoor patio is quaint with grape vines hovering overhead, not only for shade, but for fresh grapes, of course. The generous owner and executive chef is seen here by his cherry tomato plants. They’ve made careful use of every inch and the vibrancy of the food can’t be matched here. I feel lucky to have such a great local restaurant.

We sat down outside by the fountain. There are real grapes hanging from the grapevines above you! The food was all fresh especially the veggies. There’s nothing like fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and mint!

The taste of veggie food was good and the place was clean. However, the owner was acting suspiciously with no smile although the younger serviceman was kind and helpful. The Lamb meat was below average. The rice mixed with uncooked rice made it hard to chew . Fries were good. Overpriced place.

Absolutely amazing food! We went as a family and started with an array of dips, warm pita and bread. It was fantastic. We then moved on to the most delicious shared meat platter and baked eggplant. I could eat the baked eggplant every day! The meats were flavorful and plentiful. We ended with trying each of the desserts. The pudding was a great mix of almond, cinnamon and vanilla. The baklava was warm and dripping in honey. A true treat. Do not skip this gem!

We really enjoyed our meal. Everything was perfectly cooked, the hummus was simple and very smooth. The service was great and though there was a wait, it’s obvious in the quality of the food that the wait is justified. Our server Yousef was amazingly polite and I ordered a Turkish Coffee Sweet, and it was perfectly sweet. We will definitely go again. Thank you.

I love this location. They do have the most delicious Mediterranean dishes. the atmosphere is very cozy and the team is outstanding. I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants in DC, New York, Chicago but Leyla is the best. Make sure to order their appetizers it is very delicious and freshly made. We also had a kebab platter, my husband and I enjoyed it very much. Also, they have Kurdish coffee yummy! Will come back!

I’ve never written a poor review before, but After having positive dining experiences at Leyla’s in past few years, was surprised and shocked at the rudeness and behavior of the waitress who is the only who has always been there in the past. I was meeting a friend there who had never been there before and at were the first ones to arrive for lunch at 11:30. After bringing the water to table she indicated, and waiting for friend to study the menu, our waitress seemed beyond being annoyed and obviously offended when asked to please turn the volume down in the loud Kurdish music, (which was probably fine while getting things ready in the kitchen before opening), Then, along with ordering our zucchini pancakes, asked her also for the red lentil soup to which she snapped, No, dint have any~~ I then asked about the stew and she also snapped did not have that either, & with no suggested alternative. But we were still looking forward to the zucchini pancakes which unfortunately came out deep fried with a heavy greasy breading crust! Oh my~~ lunch was anything but a nice experience and safe to say will never return!

There were good aspects, such as the bread and dip that come with the meal. The bread was so soft and warm. I was no impressed with the gyro. The lamb wasn’t very hot and I had to drench it in sauce. Our waitress was very nice however. I saw a plate of another patron and her food looked very appetizing. I think I would come back and try something else.
