We moved to the Thumb last year and have been looking for a good Chinese food restaurant. Found Liang’s Garden in Marlette and gave it a try. We were very pleased with our dining experience. We ordered off the combination menu, cashew chicken with white rice, and sweet and sour pork with fried rice, and included an egg roll. We ordered cups of egg drop and won ton soups, two spring rolls, and an order of fried dumplings. Generous portions, took home the leftovers, and great flavor. The soups were warm, not hot. The egg roll is made with a thick wrapper and filled with good flavor. The spring rolls are light and crispy and flavorful. The dumplings are very tasty. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back.

I occasionally go through Marlette, MI. When I do, I make sure to visit my favorite, family run restaurant, Liang’s Garden. There was such a cute, little, 8 year old, family member, who took our order without even writing it down, impressive. Food is fabulous!

Edit October 2022, food is still really good that I had however there was a price increase, way smaller portions, and no more soup with meals so lowering from a 5 to a 3. My favorite dish (Hunan chicken) is still really good flavor.

The original owners are very much missed along with their food, proportions, and authenticity. Yes, I understand there’s inflation going on, but for a large wonton soup “to go” that only has “7-10 wontons” that are “extra small to small size” in it and charge 10 dollars or more for it, ok ( yea um no. The little chips things the new owners switched to are better)? Oh, also, the lo mein noodles since the new owners took over have changed, not for the better they are skinnier. Also, when making chicken chow mein, please add baby corn, water chestnuts, and water peas.

The food was tasty and I love how their kids help and very good life skill, we need more places that are about family.

We have been here many times (pre-covid) and have always loved this place. However, today was not good…the woman (owner??) was on the phone and very loud…the young girl who brought our drinks asked if she could take our order, I said “He doesn’t know what he wants yet” referring to my teenage son. The girl made a nasty face and said “He??” I said “Yes, HE.” And the rest of the meal just spiraled from there, she kept staring at my son, every time she came to the table she would twist her face up and ask again “He??” The food is great, but maybe don’t let young children wait on tables…it made the whole experience awkward for both me and my son.

Food is good, portions are decent. But I’m not happy about the fact that the kids that were there are running around, fighting, being loud and trying to “help” our waitress. My husband and I went out to eat to escape all of that and relax. Didn’t get that sort of experience. So that’s why 2 stars
