We were extremely lucky to walk in and be seated – I highly recommend having a reservation. This was an unexpectedly upscale restaurant with clever decor featuring literature and we loved many aspects of our dining experience. The two featured cocktails we tried (Penelope Smoked Old Fashioned and Flora Adora)were outstanding. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The tuna tart appetizer and the scallop entree were top notch and some of the best dishes we’ve had at any level of restaurant. I highly recommend trying them. The side dishes were another point where the restaurant shines. I particularly enjoyed the sautéed mushrooms. On the other hand, the ribeye, while cooked to perfection, somehow was still a little tougher than expected, and I feel that there is room for improvement for that price range. The shrimp ceviche guacamole with plantains was good as well, though perhaps not as amazing as some of the other offerings. I look forward to coming back to try the lamb.

Absolutely wonderful restaurant!!! Phenomenal food and an excusite atmosphere!!! We had the pleasure of being waited on by Devon and chose a variety of things to try. We started with the house bread and shrimp and avocado ceviche then ordered our entrées. My husband had the waygu sliders and crawfish mac-n-‘cheese. I ordered the roasted beet and strawberry salad and the pan grilled fish. We finished our dinner with the molten lava cake. Everything was absolutely delicious and I could tell with every bite much consideration was taken with the menu. If you’re in the area I highly recommend trying this place. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve eaten at the library twice, and both times were exquisite. The first time, our server, Devin, gave us impeccable service. The food was spectacular, and the vibe was moody and gave “speakeasy” vibes. Our second visit, we had a blonde young lady as our waitress, and she also gave us amazing service. The staff is so kind and accommodating. The food is full of flavor, and the whole experience makes you look forward to your next visit. As someone who eats fine dining meals relatively regularly, this small hot spot is impeccable. I used to favor Latil’s landing at Houmas House, but this place blows them out of the water.

Let me share with you my raving review of Library Wine & Provisions, a much-needed and highly popular fine dining establishment in the Gonzales area. I’ve had the pleasure of dining here countless times since its opening, and it continues to exceed my expectations and leave me beyond satisfied.

Finally, an upscale but unpretentious establishment in Ascension Parish that has captured lightning in a bottle. First and foremost, the food is delicious, filling, and high quality, without unreasonable price tags. Creative concepts and outstanding execution, not only in terms of flavor but also presentation and atmosphere. Plus, the staff is cordial and attentive, and make you feel well taken care of. Drinks are excellent, too. Not too large or crowded; it’s clear this place values quality over volume. The owner is actively involved in the daily operations, which shows the level of care associated with this establishment. Please, please, please, keep it up. I will be back!

Can I give 0 stars for unprofessionalism? I made a reservation mid-June for dinner for 8 people on July 7 celebrating a friend’s birthday. I called to confirm on July 5 and found out the restaurant is closed the entire week of July 4. I called twice because I couldn’t believe the recording the correct. Someone answered on the second call and confirmed they were closed. Too many good restaurants around Baton Rouge and New Orleans to eat and SO glad I called to confirm.

Second time for me. First time was dazzlingly good in every way. Food is outstanding! Second time no one called to confirm reservation but it was for 5 so there were tables but still couldn’t find reservation. Service not as good this time and the young man behind the bar seems to hate his job…..no smiles, no conversation, scanty wine pour. Was surprised how much his attitude bothered me but it did. Love this place. Want it to succeed. It’s a jewel. Just needs a few tweaks.
