Was visiting my son while they worked the Farmers Market Event and he told us that if we wanted some really good tacos to go over to Lil Hombre just around the corner. Small restaurant, great workers and atmosphere. The food (3 different flavored tacos) was fantastic and flavorful. It definitely will be a great place to go to again to eat at when we’re back for another visit..

Lil Hombre is a fun place with a great vibe. We stopped in for lunch and as a party of three we tried all the different options of meat. All were delicious snd seriously flavorful! This is a prime example of a business that knows what they do great and they don’t deviate. You’re missing out on great high quality food if you don’t stop here. Angel at the bar was phenomenal, courteous, knowledgeable and engaging. Can’t wait to bring more friends here to try the tacos and next time someone else can drive so I can have a margarita!!

Great little joint! Good vibe. Highly recommend. The menu allows you to make your tacos with different proteins and toppings. Staff was super friendly and helped us with our choices and made a great margarita.

If you haven’t been, you need to go! This is the place for tacos you order off a card, they are served behind the bar. Quick, fast, fresh and delicious. Flavor is out of this world!

Lil Hombre killed it with their smoked tacos! Simple menu. Pick one of the three meats, pick one of three styles, add your quantity. Hand it in. Get a drink. Sit and enjoy! Everything came out perfect! I got the Hombre style Tinga. Then they add a side of pickled veggies. You can’t leave unsatisfied. Excellent for lunch or dinner. Rockin’ vibes. Very positive. I’ll be back again with my Hubby for date night.

Recommended by some friends. It is by far the best place for tacos in Clayton. The menu is very limited but well worth it. Food is prepared fresh on a grill right in front of you. And the drinks are amazing. First time there, but it definitely won’t be my last.

Tacos were delicious. Bummed we were not served the pickled veggies which were supposed to be complementary. Revisited: Tacos were even better than before. Lots of sauces to choose from if you want to add. We did get the pickled veggies and wow! Delicious with a kick.

If you’ve never been you’re missing a real gem, but there’s a few things to know before you go. This is first and foremost a bar – not a traditional restaurant (but not a traditional watering hole either). It isn’t going to be the regular sit down and have everything brought to your table event. They have bar seating, a few indoor tables, and some additional covered outside tables and chairs. You order at the bar by filling out a card that feels like a putt-putt score card. And if you decide to sit outside, they call the name on your order over a speaker. Think of it like a food truck experience parked in a great central location of downtown Clayton. It’s designed to be adult, social, and they have a couple of food options if you get hungry. And those food options all involve delicious smoked meat tacos, hence the name. The atmosphere has always been very relaxed. I’ve been during the day for lunch and dinner, seen families with small kids enjoying a meal, even stayed outside and had our dog with us and no problems. No loud TV’s, a little music over the speakers and it’s a great location if you want to walk anywhere else downtown when you’re finished.

The tacos are delicious. All the meats are smoked and they have fresh toppings. Ordering is simple and food comes out fast. They have a great tequila selection and a good amount of beers that would fit in at a Mexican cantina. Facility is clean and the servers are all pretty cool folks. It’s a bar, not a restaurant, so temper those expectations and don’t be rude to the staff, they’re cooking, serving, and bartending. It’s a very cool business model for people who are functioning members of society and don’t expect servers to be subservient to them. Also, the fresh ingredients have a different cost to them than sodium laden junk at your local Mexican chain with a store number on the receipt. So you know, if you’re poor and feel the need to cry about it, maybe go to Taco Bell and eat the “meat product”.
