My family visit to LJ Shanghai was amazing! This restaurant is not your typical Chinese restaurant. LJ Shanghai is located in Cleveland’s Asiatown neighborhood about 12 minutes east from Downtown Cleveland. Their menu offers a different style of Chinese food that is interesting. My family and I ordered the Shanghai fried noodle dish and the Chongqing spicy noodle soup and they were delicious! The soup dumplings are a must order for any occasion! We had to order the soup dumplings 2x because they were so good! Our dine in experience was very welcoming and relaxing. The service was great as well.

Most unique Chinese food experience I’ve ever had. The spicy pig ears were a spicy crunchy and numbing appetizer. The udon noodles were sweet and salty with a great smokey wok flavor. The spicy pig intestine soup is a rare treat! Looking forward to trying some other menu items when I return.

Absolutely wonderful, authentic food. We had never had a truly authentic Chinese food experience like this and it was something we talk about to all of our friends. The restaurant is not very large, but it is ample enough space. We were helped with understanding the menu and were provided recommendations and were not steered incorrectly!

3.5 stars rounded down. Maybe this is the best that Cleveland has to offer in the way of Shanghainese food? Speaking as someone who lived in Shanghai for 4yrs not too long ago, there is a valiant effort but it misses the mark. The soup dumplings ($8) had the right techniques (relatively thin skin, soup, not fatty) but forgets the key ingredient, ginger. Also, no accompanying black vinegar with ginger slivers. The skimpy fried smoked fish ($11) was done right but the soy sauce based sauce was nondescript and the smokiest non-detectable. I’ve had similar dish with shaoxing wine. The generous portion ribs ends ($11) was tender but should have been way sweeter and sour. The pork belly soup ($12) was ok (my dining partner wanted this) as I’m not a fan of this simple noodle soup dish. Pork belly was tender. Everything should have been more amped up in taste. The prices were on average, reasonable.

Awesome little hidden gem. Every dish we tried was amazing, it’s definitely on the spicier side. Service was great, the ambience was nice. We had a short wait of 10 mins before getting our table. Definitely worth trying the Meatballs, the spicy Wonton. Will be back again, we couldn’t get to try the chicken because it was sold out!

Came with a friend for the first time. Ordered the Fried Rice Cake, Spicy Chaoshou, Soup Dumplings, and the edamame. Everything was so good. The Spicy Chaoshue was particularly good, nice spice and heat but not masking the flavor! Service was great and the food came out really quick. 10/10

Very small but unique menu. I stopped for lunch and got the wonton Soup dumpling and the Curry Beef soup. Both items were very good. No compliants! I’ll be back to try more.

Shrimp tastes good. Chicken is not my favorite one around. If I go there again, I ll eat duck and noodles which are my favorites.

This is an overdue review of one my favorite restaurants in all of Cleveland. Everything is always so good here. Love the soup dumplings! They are so good we always end up ordering more. The flat noodle and scallion noodle are also amazing.
