Finding Loaf was the happiest of accidents! We had gone to see the Art at Brooks, never expected to find such beautiful and tasty Culinary Art in their Cafe. We shared the Shrooms and Grits. It was amazingly creative and very well executed. The Shrooms were deliciously Smokey and our first experience with King Oyster Mushrooms. The Grits were a much chunkier Grit than we’ve had before which was a surprise and a delight. The butter added a lovely richness and was beautifully salty. Then the Green Onions added a freshness that balanced the whole dish. They have a Monthly Menu and a Weekly Specials Menu filled with creative seasonal dishes. There were so many Vegetarian choices! It was refeshing to find a restaurant that celebrates true ingredients, instead of processed food. I expect to be visiting often!

Korean fried chicken sandwich: chicken breast was so overcooked and tough that the whole piece came out with a bite. Sauce was gooey and more sweet than Asian flavored. A layer of cuke was 1/8″ thick but could have been the star. Overall: flavor okay (3) but execution poor (1). Suggestions. Layer chicken slices, put some effort into the sauce, make the cuke a key component.

Absolute best meal of my trip home to Memphis! Went to Loaf at the recommendation of a local chef. Everything on the menu looks excellent. We had a chicken sandwich and some flautas. Wish I could eat here every day.

the lady inside was very nice, and i had a fun time ordering. however, the korean chicken fried sandwich i got was disgusting im so sorry. the breading was still wet inside the false pretense of its crunchy exterior, the chicken itself was huge which was disgusting to me i felt like i was eating a mutant chicken. and not enough of the cucumber salad on top. it also wasn’t really flavorful.

I don’t think I’ve ever ordered something I didn’t like here. Kale really knows what they’re doing when they put a dish together! You can taste how much thought and care has gone into everything, and I love the rotation of creative specials. 🙂
