I went twice on my trip and loved this place. Not only does it have a ton of character (old cabin that has the old walls exposed to show how they’ve grown over the years) but they have excellent food. I got the platter that features 2 sides, ribs and BBQ in a choice of BBQ style sauces. The staff is super friendly and I became even more impressed when I saw a menu all about food allergies. The menu listed all major food allergies with a list of items from the menu NOT to order from. This was the first time I’ve seen this and was very impressed. My family and I will be eager to go back next time we’re in the area.

1 Star, NOW CALLED 1835, service was good, but BBQ was out of a box! It was horrible, chicken was a flat breast dry, mashed potatoes sticky, Mac n Cheese no taste, ribs were OK and baked beans were OK… but not a BBQ joint we are used to all over VA!

Very disappointed. The portions were small and the wait was long. We were there and it was not even crowded but it took over 40 mins to get the meals ready. Walked by the kitchen and seemed like the staffs were just chilling and chatting away. The food was okay ….not impressed at all. Oh and looks like it is called The 1813 Smoke House now. Perhaps changed of ownership.

Got the rib meal special for 2. Absolutely wonderful. Melted in mouth good. Dry rub was great but their sauce just added to the messy masterpiece. If you are any where near…try them!

This is a good bbq place. They had great pulled pork. The ribs were cooked wonderful the bones pulled right out. Will eat there again.

Great bbq, smoked sausage, ribs and pulled pork, vinegar and sweet bbq sauce, service was excellent very comfortable place! I really enjoyed the ribs and pulled pork, the coleslaw was amazing!

The food here is wonderful, and the atmosphere is soothing. The staff is super friendly, patient, and kind. Make sure to try the barbecue nachos–they are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! I ate too many by the time I remembered to take a pic–oops–but they are SO good!! Don’t let the plastic dinnerware fool ya, the food is SO worth the trip!!
