My hubby and I had lunch here on a Saturday during the summer when business was steady, but not mobbed; we had no wait being seated inside or outside. The menu is limited, but has standard raw bar and steamed offerings along with some imaginative dishes and non-seafood items. We started with the seafood trio appetizer — a crab cake, two scallops, and a small serving of tuna (3 oz?) cooked to order; the scallops were amazing and the crab cake was very meaty, but the tuna, which I ordered rare, was more done than I expected; nevertheless, my hubby declared the tuna his favorite and certainly none of it went to waste. He then had the jambalaya, which was more than he could eat and had a surprising kick to it. I had the crab-stuffed flounder, which the staff recommended over the fried combo; it was heavenly! It included a few shrimp not mentioned on the menu and seasonal veggies that were a very nice complement. The service could’ve been faster, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Some diners brought their dogs to eat with them outside and the staff brought each dog a bowl of water, which I thought was a nice touch. This was our second visit to Lokal and I look forward to the third!

Fantastic seafood, we’ve been coming to Kiawah for 5 years and this is the first time we made it to Lokal wish we had come alot sooner. I tried the oysters they were fantastic, I figured it was a good choice when we rolled up to the oyster truck unloading.

Stopped by for Christmas Eve brunch, incredibly kind and thoughtful staff. Chatting with the owner was genuine, he’s really cool. But then food tied everything together for our family–fresh and filling but elevated with modern presentation. Literally the best smoked salmon I’ve ever had!! Thank you so much to this team!

As we are staying at Bohicket Marina this summer we have had many chances to enjoy LoKal. The service our first night was bad but it was a busy Saturday night. Ended up eating at the bar and the food was exceptional.

Terrible food and terrible service. Both soups that we ordered were disgusting, she crab soup had chunks of starch in it. Soups were not served at the same time. We had to wait 45 minutes for the main course. We ordered Jambalaya, it tasted like old bay seasoning, I couldn’t taste the rice or shrimp in that dish, only spices. Don’t go to this restaurant.

Excellent place! The food was very good, one of the best meals out we’ve had in some time. Fried chicken was the best I every tasted. Also had the seared scallops with grits and brisket. It doesn’t sound like those ingredients should be together, but wow what a great dish. The setting was also wonderful. Mike, the owner also came over to check on us. That’s what restaurant owners always used to do. Highly recommend, and by the way, we brought our four young kids.
