Tues, May 23rd, 2023 was not my first visit to the Fayetteville, WV location of LJS, but it very well may be my last. After placing my order using the Drive-thru speaker, I pulled up to the window and was greeted by a female employee that I had not previously seen at this restaurant, which isn’t surprising given the high turnover rate for restaurant employees. After repeating the amount due, this particular employee who was not wearing a visible name tag, but said her name was “Teresa” when later asked (receipt indicates “Elizabeth C”), apparently thought it was a good idea to criticize my order by 1st stating “That sure is a lot of hush puppies” and then immediately following up with “Is you ‘hoongry’?” (note that the spelling is my attempt to recreate the cynical way this employee slurred the word ‘hungry’ as if I was a hillbilly fresh on a rare trip to the big city).

This is my guilty pleasure. Our local LJS closed years ago. Now when on road trips, if I stumble across one I like to stop. This restaurant appeared to be fairly new, very clean, and steadily busy. The food was the usual LJS- battered and fried to golden perfection. It was delivered to our table hot and fresh. All in all a good (once in a while) experience.

Fish was amazing little bit greasy. The chicken was ok a bit over cooked and old you could tell it had been setting under a heater for a while. The frys were fresh and crispy. There sauce selection is very limited. And it’s really disappointing they no longer have mac n cheese really limits side selections.

The posted hours say open until 10pm, but it appears they are not. We came through at 8:44pm and were disappointed. The lights were all off and one employee was outside smoking while one other stood inside watching us drive past the drive through.

If you don’t enjoy opening fifteen really small “ketchup pack” style packages of tarter sauce every time you eat fish in the dining room, then don’t stop here. They blame it on covid, but that makes no sense because they have a pump style dispenser of shrimp sauce in their dining room. If you can have a pump dispenser of shrimp sauce then why not put the ketchup and tarter sauce back out there also? I know this sounds petty but sometimes I come inside just to avoid all the little packages of condiments. Other Long John’s put the dispensers back out in the dining room, why can’t you? This is a “by location” type decision, because they have the pumps out at my local Long John’s. Other than that (being fair here)… the restaurant is very clean inside and out, and the staff was exceptionally friendly.

Headed to Fayetteville with my family for some shopping. We had already pre discussed where to eat. With a late start we decided Long John Silvers 12 piece family meal. We’ll have a few bites in the grocery store parking lot, never shop hungry. Pulled in opened bag with great anticipation. No plates, no napkins, no sporks have you ever tried to drink Cole slaw? New experience.

We didn’t get anything we ordered got a coke and fries, which we didn’t order. We ordered slaw, chicken, and 1 piece of fish. Didn’t order but 1 piece of fish, we got 1 fish, and no chicken. Ordered 4 hushpuppies, we got only 1. The whole order was wrong. Will not eat there again.

Fast and friendly service. The exterior was really cool. A modernized version of just what you would expect from a seafood place like Long John’s. Make sure you drive allll the way to the back to find the drive-thru. We almost thought they didn’t have one. Food was hot and exactly what we ordered.
