Non descript front leads to a colorful and amazingly clean, bright interior. Easy to see lots of pride in the location and the food. Menu was tremendous with lots of choices. Owner told us he used full sized corn tortillas so tacos were good sized. I thought I had heard that before in other restaurants but they were small. NOT HERE, really nice sized with large servings of very flavorful meats. Asada was delicious tender, moist and flavorful as was the Al Pastor and lengua! My wife’s shrimp taco was just as great. I got 3 tacos but 2 would have been perfect. I did eat all 3 though!! Lol Loaded fries were LOADED and very large. Real Coke from Mexico was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and stop in here and enjoy!

Came here based on excellent reviews. My experience was not quite the same. One of the food items we ordered was chicken quesadilla. It tasted like boiled salted chicken breast with some cheese and tomatoes. Another thing we noticed, no A/C in the restaurant, just ceiling fans.

I was on my way through town and wanted Mexican food for lunch. This place is spacious and other reviews are tight the mural is a little out of place. I ordered the quesibirria tacos because they show up in most other reviews. And I got a bottled root beer. The chips and warm almost creamy salsa were delicious. The tacos and consume delivered on flavor and crunch. So satisfying. Highly recommend! Service was fast and friendly. Definitely hit up the salsa bar for pickled carrots, fresh cucumbers and roasted jalapeños (and salsas of course).

We had originally intended to get BBQ when visiting Raton, but there was a Ronchetti rally there, so we got the heck out. We found Los Chanquis on gMaps, and so glad we did! A sweet little place with a big menu and friendly folks. Both my BFF and I tried the tacos birria and were not disappointed. Lots of meat with a wonderful flavor, crispy flour tortilla shells, and the juice for dipping was so good I wanted to drink it. I had a bottled Coke (always better) and the BFF had a can of Diet. The music was not intrusive and everything was very clean and comfortable. I felt like this would be our favorite if we were locals. Would definitely return!

This place is super casual with awesome food! Very attentive and friendly service! Angel was working the front alone and did such an excellent job at taking care of everyone. The prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend you visit Los Chanquis for the delicious food, we will definitely be back when in Raton!! Thanks again Angel!

The food was very overpriced. The fish I ordered was extremely overcooked, and the wait staff was super nice to some customers and very rude to others. I ordered a Horchata and was given a Coke. Not to mention, the place had absolutely no AC. I wouldn’t come here again.

We’re just passing through, but if I lived in town eating here would be a weekly treat. I wanted to drink the salsa with a straw and the quesobrilla taco were excellent. The beans were a little plain, perfect for our kids.

What a huge disappointment. Went off to find a great place, very excited to try this one. I was addressed (not greeted) told I ordered up front and pointed to the register. She then toldme i order at the register then sit. I asked the girl about a dish, she said rudely we don’t have that, I asked what the prices she said I’ll tell you, again VERY rude.

Tacos were on the bigger side so they justify their price. Good toppings bar. Unfortunately out of buche when I was there. Lengua and Carnitas were quite good, slightly underwhelmed by the Al Pastor and Adobada.
