One of the main reasons for me to travel to Yakima is to go here and load up on their tamales to take home. My favorites are the chicken tamales and the seasonal asparagus tamales. They are well known throughout the U.S. for their food…They now have two locations – the original Union Gap location and the newer Yakima location… This time I went to the new location. Always great service. Fast and friendly. You can eat there or take home. I always just get the frozen tamales to take home.

Amazing tamales! It doesn’t matter what flavor you get…they are all delicious. The asparagus tamales are award winning and they deserve it. It’s a small place that packs a big punch. Make sure to get their beans and rice because they, too, are delicious with the tamales. Stop by and have a meal….it’s totally worth it!!!

Their seasonal asparagus tamales are the best I’ve ever had & the best in WA State. I’d drive from Seattle to Yakima for no other reason than the tamales at Los Hernandez!

I was visiting family in the Yakima area and my son wanted tamales from the Los Hernandez Authentic Tamales. I tried some – pork meat – and was very happy with the authentic flavor of real home made tamales just like mom would make.

We returned after a couple of weeks and were extremely disappointed. All Masa and no asparagus. What asparagus there was is very small stringy bits. Definitely nothing to write home about. This happens every year and we wont return.

Food that is simple and delicious, like real food should be. Not heavy and greasy like everything else in the area. Tamales are 10/10.

Tamales are a funny thing…..there are a lot of mediocre tamales out there, but good tamales are hard to find. Great tamales are even less common…..unless you live in Yakima! Los Hernandez tamales have long been a staple in the area, but now they’re even more accessible for those of us living on the West End of town. These are some of the best tamales in the world. If you don’t believe me, just check out the James Beard award that they won for their tamales! Their lunch specials run around $7 for a couple tamales with rice and beans. If you’ve never tried it, stop then and give it a go!
