Absolutely would NOT recommend, even if it’s the only place w/ reservations open in the North End (it’s not filled for a reason!) It was mediocre Italian food at best- not even close in quality to other restaurants that I’ve been to in the North End. Broccoli Dorati was probably the worst and was literally burnt. Server was unfriendly and fed up. Service was also super SLOW; it took over 45 minutes to get our food after waiting at least 20 minutes for our order to even be taken.

Italian Restaurant that is among the very best of the best in Boston. Sauce is delicious, their Parm (I got veal) is some of my favorite anywhere. Prices are very good, and the service was quick and friendly.

I was walking around the North End with my mother with no intentions of eating at any specific place. We found L’Osteria by chance and I’m very glad we did. It seems like just an average restaurant with some touristy looks to it but the food is where they shine the brightest. I’m not sure if these are family recipes or what but they are delicious and the portions are extremely generous. We got the stuffed mushrooms and while the mushrooms were ok, it was the sauce that added the kick they needed to soar. I wish the waitress would have told us to drizzle the sauce on them before we were already halfway done but I’m glad we thought outside of the box and did. The carbonara was perfectly cooked and had the right amount of sharpness from the cheeses but the creaminess from the egg and cream. Savory from the guanchale made everything sit in harmony. Definitely a place I will visit again just to see how the other dishes are presented.

I hate to make comparisons, but this restaurant seemed to be like an Olive Garden. Don’t get me wrong, the service was good, but the food was barely decent. 2 of our dishes were piping hot, and one was kind of warm. The Alfredo was bland and tasteless. The meatballs were good, but the pasta and sauce were mediocre (from boxes and cans). The manicotti was just barely warm and also did not taste great. I also found a small hair on the side of my plate . It seems as though the “authentic” ingredients were all sourced from a local grocery store rather than being made in house (the pasta and the sauce) which was disappointing. The service and atmosphere was good, but the Italian food did not taste authentic at the least. Unfortunately, I would not recommend L’Osteria for your next trip to the North End.

A delicious, authentic Italian restaurant. Food was great, service friendly and attentive. Much better than some of the restaurants on Havover, try here instead!

All the food was fantastic! The chicken francese was so soft and juicy it basically melted in my mouth.
