About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria
Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor.
Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

Originally I’m from the chicago-land area. I’ve had their pies and thin crust and always enjoyed it. Picked up a couple of their frozen thin crusts from their store for a little under 40 bucks… tasted like garbage. My wife actually spit it out and we pitched it. Had a pepperoni and a sausage. Both tasted awful. Quality control is severely lacking. I hope they don’t get someone seriously ill. Nice lady at the counter. Not writing off their deep dish but this was a terrible experience.

One of my favorite places for Chicago style deep dish. More of my style than the overly cheesy Giordano’s. Lou Malnati’s is still thick, but it feels lighter on the stomach. The thinner crispy outer crust is delicious. Definitely recommend checking out Lou Malnati’s if you’ve never had it. I’m super excited to have one in the Greenwood area now.

I would order from here for the bruschetta alone. I’m more of NY style pizza lover but these are still a great product. Not an everyday pizza but good on occasions I’m looking for something different.

I really wanted to like this place. The pizza has all the right components, but the crust lacks flavor. The sauce is good, but again, it needs something more. It might be a pure version of a deep dish, but I need more flavor. Everything else is perfect though.

Absolutely love pizza from here. It is my go to when I want a true deep dish. Yes a deep dish can be runny, yes you want it uncut to keep that all in, and yes it is on the pricey end of pizza. That all said, it is a pizza that doesn’t rely on salt to make it taste good. The sauce is the flavor factor along with the buttercrust. Heck, even a thin crust has that delicious buttery crust that’s not so thin it pokes you as you eat but not so thick it’s chewy. After a trip to Chicago and I’ll say I’m on Lou’s side. Keep making good pizza guys!

The pizza was great. Really delicious. It took 45 minutes instead of the 30 we were quoted so we hung out in the store for 15 minutes. But the pizza was great.

Carry out with a 30 minute lead time. Was told to wait in parking lot and they would bring it out. After an hour, I went in to check on it. Pizza had been ready but they forgot about it. I get it home to find the pizza looking like this. Upon returning, they asked me what was wrong with it and this was how it was supposed to look! It literally had water running out of the box in my truck. Had I known this is how it’s supposed to look, definitely wouldn’t have wasted my time.

1 star bc 0 isn’t an option. Straight garbage! Way way way over priced! If you like upside down pizza covered in burnt canned tomatoes this place is for you! I could not get past the stench to even eat 1 slice! Ontop of all that they didn’t even bother cutting it!

Second time visiting. Chicago pizza is very good. Also have salads, lasagna, and desserts. Wait time is typically 30 minutes.
