Luthun is a tasting menu only restaurant that serves Progressive American cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. We source ingredients from many different cultures, while using European techniques. This is an adventurous tasting menu that does not shy away from bursts of flavors, colors and textures. Our primary focus is on balance while incorporating all of the elements of taste: umami, sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter.
The beverage list is comprised of beer, wine and sake from around the globe. The emphasis is on indigenous and rare grape varieties, appellations that are traditionally underrepresented, and people that farm & make wine in a more artisanal way.

Luthun is one of the most underrated restaurants in New York!!! We ate here in July of 2023, ordering the 7 course tasting menu ($145 pp). Every bite was phenomenal, mixing delicious flavors, ingredients, and styles. Each course was technically impressive and incredibly delicious!! Some of our favorites were the saffron taco, the summer garden (a delicious combination of fresh produce), and the swordfish (with summer strawberries). We were so impressed by the kitchen’s unique ability to integrate fresh, seasonal produce into every dish. We were fortunate enough to sit at the chef’s counter and watch the team masterfully prepare every dish!! The team was kind and welcoming; the service was great as well!! We thought the price was very reasonable and left feeling quite full compared to other tasting menus. I highly recommend Luthun for an amazing culinary experience!!!

Luthun is definitely an experience! The chef developed a creative tasting menu that blew us away. The presentation and the flavors were on point! Service was friendly and warm. Every bite was unique and we’re definitely looking forward to the new menu! If there’s only one thing to nitpick, during the visit there were moments were it was hard to understand when they were explaining the dishes due to the noise from the other tables. Other than that everything was perfect and recommend!

I was at Luthun recently with two friends for a special event. The food quality was as always phenomenal. I will not go into length to describe dishes as it won’t justice to them. There is something special about Luthun that after so many visits I can confidently say a) there is a sense of consistency to the menu each time, even though menu changes you can always say “this is chef Nahid’s work” I still cannot put my finger on it but there is definitely a signature feel to them which makes them special and a joy to experience. I recall first time visiting Luthun right after pandemic I told the team “It felt like I am in Fat Duck but a vastly different interpretation of it” I think that feel is still there which I love. It is a little like how two languages are related to each other but are yet different (think Italian and Spanish) b) despite the signature feel, each time there is an element of surprise. Just when you think there is no other creative way to balance or come up with a new mix of flavors Luthun and chef Nahid surprise you. This reflects on the chef’s creativity and ability to re-invent the menu. I love it. Finally, goes without saying, the staff is extremely friendly which elevates the experience. I highly recommend Luthun.

One of my favourites in the city with some of the most interesting dishes I’ve tried! I’ve gone twice so far, a couple of months apart, and both times were surprising, delightful, and fun. The service is wonderful and you can feel a sense of friendliness and community from all the staff. Also great wine selections and a sommelier who can recommend something for anyone. Worth coming back over and over!
