M Rae’s is one of our favorite takeout locations in the Portsmouth/ Chesapeake area of Hampton Roads. This Black Owned small business has really good wings, amazing seafood, & great desserts as well. We really enjoyed the “Gold Dust”, “Bang Bang”, & Rae’s Wing. Thier Mac & Cheese is really really good as well. For dessert, I recommend “the Animal Cracker Cheesecake”. It was delicious. Aside from the delicious food, the customer service is absolutely amazing & that includes the owner as well. She’s very polite, professional, friendly, & makes it clear that she appreciates your business & support. This is an amazing way to have a take out date night while also supporting a Local Black Owned Business as well. Give them a try.

I loveee this place. Everyone is so sweet and nurturing, I felt at home as soon as I walked in! Food was 10/10. I got the maple bacon wings with seasoned waffle fries & my mom got the fish dinner w/Mac and cheese and string beans. Mama Rae let us sample her collards and I nearly cried because they reminded us of my grandmother’s. She is the sweetest and humblest woman ever !! Highly recommended.

I came from Richmond Virginia for this food and I was not disappointed. I didn’t care for the string beans though – everything else was very delightful. As a matter of fact I’m taking the trip again for more.. you’re deff going to crave something off that menu.

Had to give this place the necessary 2-star review, because unfortunately was not satisfied with the food. Chicken was extremely over-cooked, to the point where the meat was simply dry. May have been because it was near closing time, but not an acceptable reasoning for the quality of the food. Staff was friendly however.

Outstanding!!!! This place along with the customer service is top notch!!! The food is out of his world good. We had the honey old bay & bang bang shrimp along with maple bacon & bang bang wings paired with buffalo crab dip fries. I think I just died and went to Heaven!!!

Unicorn wings…..If you haven’t tried them you ARE missing out…OMG! Everything we had was the bomb. Very large portions. The ranch fried fish was as unique as the unicorn wings but in the most delicious way. My spicy bourbon wings and sweet potato cake fries were amazing. They have so many flavors of wings that you can’t find at the typical wing spot it will take you forever to pick which ones to try first. The staff were kind and courteous. True gems to help you select the meal of your dreams. Outstanding!!!!
