Madres Brunch is a cafe that serves mexican style brunch items. Parking was really easy and can be found behind the restaurant. I arrived around 9:45 AM and did not have to wait, but once I left around 10:30 AM it was already getting really busy so use the Yelp waitlist for convenience. The cafe itself wasn’t too fancy. It felt like an office space with a homey feel and instagram decorations. There were a lot of tables.

We were waiting for two hours at another place when I called this location and ask for the wait time. She told me 45 minutes and that they dont allow wait-list joining over the phone(which I respect because then that artificially skews the wait time to the longer side). Once we arrived to downtown whittier, and found parking, we checked in and she said the wait was 45 minutes, which was true and accurate. We were seated, and our waitress doted on us. She got all of our orders down, and recommended some drinks. I went with her recommendation, which was a blueberry latte and a strawberry milkshake. The food came quickly, a true brunch experience. The food was good. I got the chocolate pancake, which wasn’t too sweet. She got a birria omlette and he got the chilaquiles. Everything tasted amazing.

Made a reservation said it 45min took them 1hr 20min to seat us. Busboy bumped my sister in head 2x. Poor service kept forgetting drinks (2x)and requests (tortillas). Unorganized hostesses. Nothing to show buy a sorry excuse for an apology. I don’t recommend for party over 3 people. Restrooms were poor condition, stank, and didn’t have baby accommodations.

They get 3 stars for presentation and our server provided good service. The food was very BLAND, not authentic Mexican tasting. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and my husband the chilango, even with the extra side of salsa it wasnt worth it. We went on a weekend and the wait was 2 hours, glad we didn’t end up waiting at that time! So if you want to try it to take cool pics for social media, I suggest a weekday morning. We went on a Wednesday at 10am and there was no wait. Maybe their waffles or pancakes are better?

So the food was good, but not out of this world. I had the Ensenada Omlette. It was good, but the price was a more then what the portion served. This place is really about being different, so I took that into consideration. The meal came with a decent but small salad and half a small bake potato. FYI, on the menu it list a bake potato, so I assumed the whole potato? Like outback..lol These 2 sides seem odd for breakfast/brunch meal. My meal qas $19. The omlette was really good but small in size and its filling. We also ordered the journey to share, which was 2 pancakes served with a strawberry type syrup. Now this has a great presentation and delivery as they add the syrup in a very unique way at your table. NOTE: Make sure to ask for more syrup as what is served initially will nit be enough. With that said, this was very tasty and like I said, it is something people are attracted to because of the presentation.

Great spot. Not tour everyday Mexican food. Ordered the special mole chilaquiles with chicken. They were outstanding. We got the birreria omelet that was good as well, we also got an order of the on fire wafles. Always love a good wafle with ice cream. I could probably use a little more bourbon flavor but they were still good. A lot of great options passed by this place on Sunday thought a new movie was opening but it was the line for this place. Definitely better to go during the week. Great spot though.

There is nothing like a good breakfast joint that offers mimosa as a side.
