Very cool old building worth visiting. The food is what you would call “home cooking or country cooking ” good but not great. Our waitress was a jewel. If you’re eating in Front Royal, it is a good choice.

Very attentive wait staff. GREAT food. Old tavern atmosphere upstairs in bar area, which I don’t think many people know about. I like the upstairs bar because it’s never crowded on weekdays. The bartenders are excellent and they serve their beer with an icy glass. Their steaks are DELICIOUS!!

The crab-artichoke dip: Very good. The chili is good but a little soupy for me. Rib eye was cooked properly and well but bland as was the salmon (thus the 4 stars). Coffee was good (always a plus) and the peach pie was good.

I ordered a steak with macaroni salad on the side the macaroni salad was absolutely disgusting the steak had no flavor I had to drown it with salt and pepper to make it edible it was a junior piece of rubber side note don’t go to this place.

Everything was pretty mediocre. I took the kids out and the staff was very stiff. They did not acknowledge us or let us know someone would be with us soon. We sat outside and our server was very busy, which I understand. I did this job for 15 years and have been out a lot. But this was something I’ve never experienced. After minor things, like forgetting my son’s lemonade and his very indirect approach, he came to my kids and I and asked if we were thinking about dessert because if not here’s the bill, and to take my time but also stated that it would be easier on him because he has a large workload. I found that to be very rude and I was just dumbfounded. The steak was overcooked, the service/staff was unpleasant, but everything else was fine. I enjoyed my glass of wine and crab and artichoke dip, and the kids enjoyed their food as well.
