We are so fortunate to have a Salvadoran restaurant in Douglas County. Makayla’s is fantastic! Previous negative reviews made me leery about going to check out Makayla’s; decided to try carry out. Previous reviews are seriously skewed. Extremely friendly people who appreciated my attempts at Spanish. Appears to be a family business. I spent $40 and had enough food for a couple of meals for my wife and myself. Don’t miss the HUGE 11oz tamales which are made in banana leaves and loaded with chicken. Tamales are Salvadoran Style in which the fillings are slightly different than Mexican. Empanadas great as were the pupusas. Definitely dine in next time.

The vibes were like “here comes some outsiders” instead of “oh, more customers”. The menu has English translation and there is a public restroom. The food was a little bland. It is a place for “outsiders” that will do in a pinch. The customer service was decent, but catered more to the”regulars”. There is a small grocery store attached.

First time I didn’t like their rice was undercooked but 6 months later I decided to try this place again. I was pleasantly surprised how they finally got the rice right and other dishes I tried like steak with onions and fajitas was so good. The pupusas and chicken empanada very tasty. Will try the soups and skewers next time. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the beef empanada I didn’t like and they forgot my pickled salad for my pupusas but otherwise the food was good

Food was incorrect because I asked for my wings to be crispy but came out soggy. I informed the cashier it wasn’t crispy and she informed the owner and he said that he cooked it 5 mins more then the normal wings and he wasn’t going to recook them or refund me because I said I didn’t want them and also offered for them to feel them as well. The fries was soggy and the owner attitude was horrible to be a business owner. The cashier was sweet and was basically saying I wish I could but he was just going off and denying me any type of further assistance. The cashier walked off and so did the owner so I didn’t eat it and didn’t get my money back. Stay away because the owner is rude.

I’m sure the food is just as nasty as the customer service at this place. If your melanated don’t share your wealth here! It comes so easy for them to make you feel like they don’t want you there. Made me not want to spend a dime which I didn’t….

The food was very bland and they don’t let you feel welcomed in their restaurant. I told the young lady that we were new there expecting her to explain their menu and what would be best choice. She looked at me like whatever and took our drink order. We ordered the stuffed tortillas bean and cheese and the chicken and cheese it was very bland no seasoning added to at all. At least my son enjoyed his hamburger and french fries but we won’t be returning. Have to work on giving great customer service to everyone who patronize your store and restaurant.
