Best fried chicken I have had! The batter is amazing! The amount of food served is almost enough to share… but as good as all the food is you won’t wanna share lol. Location is great for traveling through. Definitely will be a must stop during our road trips! Thanks Mamma Reta for existing!

Just Us Organizing
The food was delicious. We ordered the vegetable plate, because we wanted to try multiple sides, cornbread, fried chicken, and the sweet potato cookies. Everything came out hot and fast. We even received a surprise gift in our bag, 2 pieces of cake. Before we leave town we’re making another stop for more Sweet Potato Cookies. This will definitely be a regular stop anytime we pass through Lake Charles.

We stopped at Mama Reta’s in Lake Charles on the way to New Orleans looking for a place to eat, and I will say, it was the best mistake ever. We ordered the fried chicken wings with cornbread and texas toast along with a side of the cornbread dressing. The flavor was on point! No hot sauce is needed for the wings. Whatever secret breading she is using was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. And the dressing, omg, I would’ve sworn my grandma was in the kitchen! They were so good we tried to stop on the way back to find out they were closed on Sundays. The only reason I rated 4 stars is because we didn’t receive any napkins or utensils and I got toast instead of cornbread. We went to the lake to eat our food and ended up using our paper bags as napkins, and yes…. our chicken wing bones as a spoon! LOL! It was still worth it!! We will def stop again on our next road trip.

Loved Mama Reta’s food AND Mama Reta. It’s Friday, so I got the fried catfish. Beautiful crust, tender fish, and yummy! I had to share most of mine with my son. Portions are generous, so that wasn’t a problem. My husband also got the catfish, devoured it, and promptly fell asleep (Sorry, no pics this time. Ate it too fast.)

Our take out lunch of fried shrimp, green beans and okra were amazing. Loved the bonus piece of white cake that came with our lunch. I highly recommend you stop by a great meal in an easy location off the interstate.
