Here at Maman Joon, our philosophy is simple – food should be authentic, well-crafted, and delicious. We practice this in everything we create, from our homemade yogurts to our fresh-baked breads.
As for the restaurant’s name, the word Maman means “mom and the word Joon means “soul, spirit of life. Used in a modern day to mean “dear, as a gesture of close kinship and hospitality.
So all together Maman Joon, means DEAR MOM!
Food is the language through which mom best knows how to express herself. Maman Joon is a place for family and friends to come together. You’re welcome to meet us there.
Mom’s food, Made with love!

It was one of the best Persian restaurants I ever went to and tried in the US.

Ordered at the counter around 4pm. The place was empty but clean and modern looking. Food was ready in about 15 minutes. I got away with parking in the CVS (roof lot) because there were no street spots. Food was a little disappointing; beef didn’t have a good char on it, flavors were standard for kebab, nothing was particularly outstanding. I wouldn’t make a special trip again—it was average kebab in an above-average looking setting.

Great place for Persian food and the owner Alex is very hospitable. Me daughter and I tried lots of dishes featuring chicken, beef & lamb with two rice options. The traditional basmati with saffron & his grandmother’s mixed vegetables rice. We really enjoyed ourselves. We also had two beautiful salads! The fresh bread and yogurt & cucumber sauce was spot on.

The best Persian food I’ve had in the U.S., second only to my grandma’s cooking. When they say cooked like mom’s, they mean it! Thank you so much for a beautiful meal and incredible service.

The food here was amazing! We drove 45 min to try this spot and it was worth it. The chicken and beef kabob were delicious, juicy, and flavorful. They give you a great portion of rice and the bread and sauces were on point. We were with our son and the owner handed him a little desert which I thought was really nice. Really great customer service.

Maman Joon has the BEST Persian food in the DMV! I love how they offer vegetarian alternatives to my favorite dishes. The service is great and food is so delicious. It’s a wonderful casual spot to dine-in or take-out! Highly recommend

First of all, this is not a fancy restaurant but the quality of the food is awesome. The staffs are really polite and you feel very comfortable with the owner. He’s a great guy. I tried Ghorme Sabzi, Gheyme, Koobideh, and Supreme dish. I would say all the stews taste better than their kabobs, or maybe I felt like that. The prices are also very fair and reasonable. If you ask for Tahdig (crispy rice), it will be added to your rice free of charge. I hope they keep the quality of their foods as good as it is now and extend their businesses to other DMV areas, so I don’t have to drive 30 minutes:)

I go to school reasonably close to this restaurant. It was a recommendation by Google from my history. Exhausted and hangry, I visited this location with high hopes based on the reviews. I went during lunch, so I expected, at the very least, for the food to be fresh. I was disappointed. Bottom line, my meal was dry and flavorless. The last thing I needed was a meal I did not enjoy.

Authentic Persian cuisine, and dare I say better than my aunt’s (hers is great too!)! I’d suggest getting a khoresht (stew with rice), as it’s rare to find them on fast casual menus. Their kabobs are wonderful as well.
