A famous local restaurant. Locals come here to enjoy their Asian food cravings. It supposedly offers Korean food, but it is mixed of Korean or Chinese food. The style or quality of Korean food is not expected as one in Korea or in Korea town. None of them tastes like Korean food. The tastes and styles were tailored to locals. Very friendly staff, and I can tell a Korean lady worked hard and received respect from locally. She supports local colleges, and mama kim is a part of Charleston.

I asked noodles and expected rice noodles like vermicelli. I’ve got vegetable lo main for $12. There is not much vegetables in noodles. So l paid $12 for noodles!

The people working there are very kind and patient. The food is phenomenal!!! They probably recognize my husband and me often since 1) we are a rare interracial pairing and 2) we always order too much for one sitting so we can eat multiple dishes and have plenty to take home for later.

I have been coming here for years! I have always been served fresh ingredients and the people working there are always very nice and welcoming. The food is (amazingly) ready soon, and since I live very close, I go to Mama’s Kitchen frequently. Their prices are very reasonable, and I love going there! I have never been disappointed!

Ordered the pork and rice, house lo-mein, noodles, spring roll, and 3 cup chicken. 3 cup chicken didn’t taste like normal 3 cup chicken. House lo-mein was just alright with the flavor. Meat wasn’t overcooked. The pork was unflavored and needed more veggies in it. Had like 3 pieces of broccoli.

Another lunch choice fave! You guys need to try this dish in the pic. Its like braised pork on top of rice with egg that is cooked in soy sauce— i hope i described it correctly. It is super tasty, u will get addicted to it. Sometimes, i get the Taiwanese noodle which tastes fabulous as well. And Ming is my favorite so I am happy when she takes care of me. She knows what I like and automatically gives me my fave cucumber side dish.

I ordered delivery through Uber Eats which said the restaurant name was Mama’s Kitchen listed as just Chinese. The General Tso’s surprised me with how bad it was. Looks wise it was fine but everything else was pretty bad. The breading was soft and stretchy like tofu skin with very large pockets of nothing on the interior and small pieces of chicken. The sauce was probably thickened with starch, but to the point that it was the texture of loose jello. The only thing I tasted was a light sweet soy sauce. I saw bit of garlic and onions but couldn’t taste them. I was pretty shocked. But, seeing as how the name on Google states its a Taiwanese Restaurant and not American Chinese, this dish might not be the best representation of what they can do. The rice and pickled cucumbers were awesome, so I’m going to give them another try buying something from them in person so I can see a real menu and not the Uber Eats Suggested. I would take the General Tso’s off the menu.

This place offers best taiwanese food!! I recommend fried chicken over rice, Singapore noodles and chicken sichuan style (if you like spicy food) here. I visited this place multiple times and this place became my go to place for lunch. I visit this place at least once in two weeks!
