Dine in a casual setting, while enjoying views of what was once the parade ground of the original Fort Yellowstone. It’s also not uncommon to have front-row views of grazing elk and bison from the windows of the Mammoth Hotel Dining Room. But the food is also something to look forward to, with our value-priced “small plate” options including Bison Sliders, Wild Game Meatballs and Mini Trout Tacos. Breakfast is a la carte or buffet.
In winter, wolf watching is immensely popular. If you’re heading out too early for a hot breakfast, we can set you up with a deli breakfast or deli lunch! You can also relive the day’s adventures with your friends in the quaint lounge located immediately adjacent to the dining room host stand.
Roomy, relaxed option with views for American fare such as breakfast & small plates featuring game. Based on 560 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.0 stars. Price $$

Best dinner in Yellowstone. Formal dining. We had 4 starters, 3 entries, and 1 kids’ meal. 4 stars because everything was so salty. Bison meat was Ok, lamp chop, and NY stip was good. The vanilla cake was super. I am glad there is a real restaurant in Mammoth. Better than those village cafeteria.

It is expensive and small portions. If you don’t mind driveing a few minutes to the small town outside yellowstone and eat there for cheaper, with no wait and probably better (we waited 45min in the dining room). The asparagus was 6$ and it was thinner than a blade of grass (in the picture finger for scale).

The Mammoth Dining Room apparently always has a wait. We ended up waiting 25 minutes because everyone else left after they got tired of waiting.

The food here is so tasty. I loved the lobster chowder and smoked trout dip. Everything was absolutely lovely. The service is very slow so be prepared to wait and relax with a nice glass of wine.

Server repeatedly dropped the ball on our order. No plates for the shared plates appetizer. Forgot an entree and made excuses for why. We both had to get up and ask the server for the entree, meanwhile the other entree is cold. We were going to order wine with our entrees but he never came back to ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted anything else. The Caesar salad was tired and wilted. The pork chop was good.

Great option in Yellowstone. We had the ribeye steak with loaded baked potato and the filet mignon with roasted wild mushrooms and Parmesan truffle fries. Food came out great and in good time. Server was friendly and attentive. There was a 45ish minute wait for a table but we hung out at the bar with wine until our table was ready. Great spot!

There are not a lot of options for dining in Yellowstone National Park. Usually each area has a cafeteria style place and a sit down dinner in one of the historic inns. Atmosphere always gets a plus due to the historic nature of the dining room. The food typically is ok due to the fact it’s provided by the same food service company that sells you ice cream in the general store.

Five days of hiking had left us weary, but Mammoth Dining Room in Yellowstone proved to be a delightful surprise. The food was outstanding, and the setting was wonderfully relaxing.

Horrible experience. Service was so slow and totally inconsiderate. Waited over 60 min after ordering to get our food. When it finally came out it was awful. Steak was way over done, chicken was dry and the mashed potatoes were straight garlic. Worst dining experience of my life. Stay away.

45 minute wait for a half full restaurant. Waited 20 minutes for someone to get our drink order. Saw general manager literally running around with sweat dripping down his face. I think they were quite understaffed. Our food came fairly quick and was good. I had a bison burger. Waitress didn’t write my order down correctly, but it was taken care of. Elk had walked up the sidewalk while we were there, so it took a bit of finagling to get in and back to the car.
