My new favorite in Seattle for Japanese food. Every dish is worth the price with the quality, taste, and portion sizes. Definitely try the black cod and mango kochi. I got the bar seat due to the crowd, but the hostess was generous and amazing. Book seat in advance!

Some of the tastiest non-sushi Japanese food I’ve had in many years. Everything looks prepared with care but still has that casual eatery vibe. The fried eggplants with miso sauce is the best of the night, and the miso grilled black cod collar is to die for. Definitely coming back for other dishes

Fresh seafood and a beautiful atmosphere. I got to learn a bit of its glorious history while being waited at the bar. Arrive early for seating, or you will need to make a reservation. They are still recovering from the pandemic. Please support local.

Makei you have won my heart . I’m so glad we got to finally visit. Reservations were made in advance through text message. When we arrived there was already a line before the place opened. It appears to be a bunch of regulars that were lined up. Seating was prompt and the elderly lady was very nice.

I enjoyed the food here. Takoyaki was good. Rolls were okay, I liked the big mouth roll and spicy tuna. Sassy salmon was just okay and kinda sweet (not a fan of that). Steamed salmon in foil was amazing, definitely recommend getting that. Spicy cod karaage was decent only because of the sauce it came with, but not sure I’d get it again. Do not recommend chicken karaage as the pieces were large and dry.

The black cod collar miso and the unagi were absolutely fabulous. Sashimi was fresh too.

First time here after a recommendation from a friend. Sat at the bar and had excellent service from Gina. We tried the cod collar by her recommendation and it was fantastic. Also had the Katsu curry. Thanks Gina for the great customer experience and service! Highly recommend and we’ll be coming back.

The best sushi/sashimi I had in Seattle, even better than the sushi I had at fine dining restaurants.

Small restaurant with excellent sushi/sashimi and a broad selection of izakaya options, recommend their specials.

How could I not go to this famous spot. Was on a business trip and glad I stopped to grab a bite. Service was quick, staff friendly, and even the patrons were amazing. Met a nice guy named Simon who gave me a history lesson on the restaurant, the city, and drinks I should order. He was kind enough to buy me one. Overall an enjoyable night. I didn’t have a reservation so I sat at the bar. If you’re going with another person or group make sure you call and make reservations as it gets filled up quick.
