I had read that the shop owners were from Philly/NJ and traveled from Virginia to check them out. (There was an older couple who also visited because they thought the “bread was imported from Jersey” ). The store bossman got a great laugh out of it and exclaimed, “we’re pure Washingtonians” without an ounce of Philly flavor. He had a good time laughing and ringing up the cash register. None of the employees are Italian.

A hole in the ground but one of the best Italian deli’s in DC. They’ve been here a long time and the sandwiches are phenomenal! I always get the Italian cold cut on a soft roll. The soft roll keeps all that delicious Italian meat in tact better than the hard roll does. I also enjoy the tasty potato salad. A little pricey but it’s legit. Mama mia!!

I came here for the first time last week with my partner and we were blown away on how good our sandwiches were. Please get the G man all the way. It is probably hands down the best sandwich in DC!

LEGIT Italian Deli. Super kind people. A bit pricey but their reputation precedes them, so I don’t mind paying a few more bucks for a great sandwich. PRO TIP: If you like a lot of extra dressing like mustard and mayo, go with the soft roll. With the hard roll, this G Man kept slip slipping away but it tasted so good I had to chase it down!

My god, I would eat here every day and order the G Man sun with everything if I lived here. Please go, you won’t regret it!

Small Italian Deli near capitol hill. It looks like a simple sub but the taste is way above that.

I love this place! I try to go at least once every two weeks on my lunch break. Food is great, customer service is great, and they’re very accommodating for my “jail” needs! ☺️ I wish they were open on the weekends!

My neighbor kept this gem to himself for years and had been coming here since the mother and father were operating the deli.
