Mangiami Italiano is easily my and my husband’s favorite restaurant. Our daughters are absolutely obsessed with the food, too. Sam is an INCREDIBLE server and Eric is a phenomenal chef. Both of them really care about your entire experience. Sam is always right there to ensure we are taken care of and have everything we need; he’s extremely attentive and just super nice. Truly, the service is second to none. Eric stops by to make sure we enjoyed our meals (which are honestly always perfect) and always takes the time to actually personally say hello. My husband and I come here a lot and not once have we left disappointed. There is not a meal that we haven’t enjoyed or an experience that left us wishing for more. Love that it’s by reservation only and often has small(er) groups in attendance; when life generally feels hectic and busy and loud, it’s a welcomed treat to have calm and quiet. We feel extremely lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant pretty local to us (though we’d for sure drive a reasonable distance to enjoy the food, service, and atmosphere even if they moved- which they absolutely should not do, ever). At least a hundred stars outta 5. At least.

Arrived and expected a window seat as requested for anniversary. Was told that someone else beat us to it. Asked for additional bread ( we had three small pieces). Were denied because “they only make so much” – really? Can’t make an additional loaf or two? Wife ordered dish to exclude shrimp, olives and artichokes ( all expensive items) and to instead add basil and tomatoes. Dish came with no basil and 4 small tomatoes. Service was slow ( only one waiter) Desert was limited to two items. Will not return. Can get better food with faster service for much less price. Why wouldn’t anyone?

Amazing food. Kindest owner ever! Best dinner date or place to take family for a beautiful sit down meal. I was plentiful surprised that this town had such a hidden gem here… thank you again for the meal.

We made reservations for the chef’s table to celebrate a birthday. We did the 4 course chef’s choice family style dinner- had a good variety and tasted amazing!! Really great service as well. Exceeded expectations!

Had reservation today – ordered appetizer initially & was refused until entree orders were placed – entrees came & no appetizer, and note that we were the ONLY table occupied in the entire dining room – atrocious excuse for service. I recommend you drive to Madison, Janesville or Milwaukee if you want an Italian meal with average or better service – clearly you are not going to get it at this place – I have received better service at nearly every coffee shop I have ever been to in the past.

We made reservations for 10 to celebrate my sister in law’s 60th birthday party. We surprised her with her sister from FL and when she walked in we were all so excited for her. It was 10 women, and we were talking and giggling really enjoying our time together. The owner came out and said, “I am happy your all have a good time, but can you please keep it down and respect the others eating around us.” There were 2 other tables in the restaurant. One table of 2 and one table of 4. We ordered 2 bottles of wine at this time, so we decided to drink them up and leave. We all felt uncomfortable talking anymore as we would get talking and then feel we might get talked to again, because how do you keep 10 women from not getting a little loud when taking amongst each other. We explained this to our very nice server and gave him a nice tip as we know this would have been a big day for him that he lost. The owner once again came out before we left and was very rude stating “I’m sure some of you have been here before and know this is a very intimate dinning experience so we should have known what to expect when we came in.” For one: Nobody but myself has been there before and I was not in charge of this gathering planning. 2: If they want no talking amongst a large group, they should only take reservations for tables up to 4 maybe or only reservations of 2. We were not drunk, loud, out of control kids. You see I said we were celebrating a 60th birthday party. The youngest in the group was 58. I know they have good food but its NOT a place for a large group and my advice to the owner: STOP TAKING LARGE GROUP RESERVATIONS, so you don’t have to make your customers feel like unruly kids! We ended up down the road at Brocks Riverwalk had an amazing table next to the window. We had great service, food and drinks and talked and laughed without any problems for hours. $$$$$ Your loss Mangiami! Will NEVER step foot into your business again.

My husband and I were in the area for a family reunion and we lucked onto this restaurant. The service and the food were both fantastic. It’s been 6 months but we are both still extolling the best Italian food we have ever eaten. Thankyou for a great experience.

What were we thinking – an Italian Restaurant in Ft. Atkinson? I saw pics online and the food looked better then other restaurants in the area – especially good looked one dish, gnocci in a white sauce with meat & peas, right up my alley. It was in the online & print menus, but we were told by the server its only a seasonal dish – not available! We should have left right then. We didn’t, ending up with 2 plates of macaroni & cheese variants (not great, frozen peas) and a starter of freezer burned perogies. $82 included 2 beers & 2 wines. Were asked if we wanted bread, it wasn’t brought out, nor were bread plates, or balsamic. Wouldn’t eat there again, can’t recommend it, especially with the 45 minute drive from Madison – an expensive bummer. The only plusses: we had a romantic seat in the window — felt some cold air but it was lovely. And my date is ultra foxxy.
