Marco Polo Menu – St Joseph, MO

Type : Restaurant

Location : St Joseph, MO

Marco Polo traveled to Asia in the later part of the 13th Century, he wasn’t the first to European to visit but was the first to chronicle his travels and experience. What he brought back and shared inspired the culture of Italy and future explorer Christopher Columbus to broaden their horizons to the larger World.

One of the many lasting impacts of Marco Polo’s “The Travels of Marco Polo” was the introduction of food and drink preparations and spices still found in Italian cuisine today. Garlic, Cinnamon, Pasta, Star Anise (Sambuca), Chicken and Pork all find their roots in Asia.

At Marco Polo Restaurant we reveal the natural fusion of Italian and Asian cuisine created so many years ago.

This place is a fun find! It’s enjoyable to discover something different and unexpected. We came in late in the evening, but they happily accommodated us, and we never felt rushed. The service is excellent! The menu is delightfully new and ordering felt adventurous. Make sure you save room for desert! The bread pudding is divine.

I love the atmosphere in this restaurant – wood decor everywhere and cozy tables. We had drinks, appetizer, entrees and dessert – every dish had a little unique variation and was tasty. Shrimp and grits had a fantastic smoky flavor. The naan bread and goat cheese served was different and yummy. Service was awesome – we like to take our time and the waiter was nearby frequently, but not rushing us. Had fun talking to the owner, who is really nice. This is a place where you can relax and sit awhile,

Got the seared tuna and wasabi risotto. Absolutely insane sounding but it was actually really good. The decor of the restaurant is super cool like the inside of a ship. Only sad thing was that their bar is remodeling when I went so they didn’t have drinks. Still solid food and service and the owner is a nice genuine guy.
