In 2009, fresh off a big market crash, Marination owners Kamala and Roz decided on a new kind of investment: running their own business. Big Blue took to the streets in June, with smiles for miles and a unique Hawaiian-Korean fusion cuisine in tow.
Over one million tacos and nearly five incredible years later, Marination has grown into one big aloha family! That’s one truck, one little brick-and-mortar in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, and one beachside restaurant with a full bar, huge patio, and a TO DIE FOR view. Our commitment to serving up Everyday Aloha extends throughout each of Marination’s locations and we can’t wait to serve you.
Laid-back Hawaiian-Korean restaurant doling out tacos, sliders & kimchi rice bowls. Based on 3 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $

Great views of Seattle and great location next to the ferry and kayak rentals.

I consider this place overpriced and overrated. The meal portion that we got for the price we paid was fairly small. The fish and chips were dried and overcooked. Apparently “barking dogs” are not allowed in the outdoor seating area, we were told this when our dogs barked at pigeons. The staff was NOT friendly and accommodating, from the time we ordered until we left. Overall, only the view that was amazing!

Lovely views of Seattle complimented by delicious Hawaiian cuisine! One of our favorite meals during our trip, everything was so savory and the atmosphere was great.

The views of the Seattle skyline are epic, and the food was fantastic too! I tried the sliders, and they were super accommodating and let me try two in the pork and two in the spam, both were awesome! We also tried the fries with nunya sauce, and the mac salad. The fries and sauce were super tasty, and the mac salad was savory, which was a great contrast to the sweet sliders.

Was finally in the area to try this place and I get the hype! It’s obviously a bit pricey for the portions but the location is beautiful and the food was delicious so its good for once in a while. I had the aloha fries for lunch and I was full when I left. Found street parking a bit far on a Sunday but it’s a nice walk so we didn’t mind.

What a letdown! After so many Seattlites praising this restaurant, I expected much more than average Hawaiian food, a long line, terrible parking, and inconsistent service. One can find an assortment of Hawaiian delicacies such as loco mocos, spam musubis, pork plates, and other offerings to remind you of Hawaii, but more is needed. The line took about 15 minutes from start to finish, but food does come out after another 10-15 minute wait, so that’s a plus. I found all of the food to be very mid. The Aloha Fries is a godforsaken mess with a peculiarly weird ratio of fries to toppings. The Lu’Au Plate was also disappointing as the sweet roll was stale, and the protein consisted of underwhelming pork with strong notes of a mixture between sweet & spicy. The spam musubi also had a ratio problem with an unequal amount of rice to spam. On the bright side, I loved the views of the sound, and the cocktails were very affordable. Bar service was also particularly rude to me, which I did not appreciate. There was a person in front of me ordering a cocktail, and while I was browsing the menu, the staff asked for my ID. I responded by stating I wasn’t ready to order, to which they said, “But you’re going to, right?”. I handed my ID but was left uneasy by the ordeal. I will not be returning, and I REGRET bringing my partner and friends from out of town.

Amazing views just off the water taxi pier. Amazing service. Ambiance is great as well. I ordered the fish and chips and fries. The food seemed stale and hard to eat. Will come back again for sure for amazing views.

Great place to check out on a sunny day. Fun ride taking the water taxi here on pier 50. Make sure to buy your ticket back from pier 50 because the machines next to this restaurant sometimes don’t function well.

We had fish, chicken and tofu tacos. It was nice that they had vegan options! The chicken tacos were the favorites. The shave ice was super yummy too. Portions are fairly small so 2 tacos will probably not be enough for an adult meal.

With an unbeatable view of the Seattle skyline across the Sound, Marination Ma Kai is positioned for instant success. Previously, only Salty’s commanded such a magnificent vista paired with a desirable dining destination on the Alki peninsula, but their dominance has at last come to an end, with the emergence of this affordable, and incredible, alternative!
