2/23 – Another visit and the experience was solid. Nice staff, solid food, and prompt service so I had no issues. I had the shrimp special this visit.

Fish fry was wonderful, our server Lindsay was fantastic! We enjoyed a glass of wine and our seating was outstanding. My dinner partner said” it’s one of the nicest places in Madison.

Absolutely love going to Mariner’s Inn for special occasions (Anniversaries or Birthdays) to celebrate in style! We celebrated our anniversary the other night. They do a marvelous job welcoming you as you come in the door, the bartenders craft delicious cocktails, the waitress was friendly, very attentive, wished us a happy anniversary, and brought out a complimentary dessert. The food was excellent, especially the special scallops, the Cajun Walleye Pike, the steak and shrimp, and crispy hash browns. Great ambience too, so visit soon.

Enjoyed a drink at the bar. Bartenders were very nice and professional. Sat at a great table with a water view. Dinner was amazing, and the waitress was really good. Prices are competitive.

We went for dinner mid-week and had a reservation. The hostess greeted us and was friendly but the first thing she said was they were short-staffed on servers. She brought us to our table and said she didn’t know who our server would be. Okay then, expectations were set. We knew it was going to be rather slow and patience was needed. Sure enough, it was 20 minutes before a waiter came to our table to take our drink order. Once he did that, service flowed more smoothly. The restaurant wasn’t even that crowded – they just did not have enough staff. Our waiter did the best he could but it was obvious he was responsible for too many tables. We spent $120 for 2 people and didn’t feel it was worth it.

First time at Mariner’s and I am pleased to say it was a good rustic Supper Club. Great views overlooking the lake. The au Gratin potatoes were on point. Great service and very friendly.

I decided to try Mariner’s Inn on Wednesday, May 17th for the first time. It was my birthday and my girlfriend and I have heard great things about the place. The restaurant seemed very empty when we arrived but we were told there was a 25 minute wait, which was no big deal. We grabbed a couple drinks at the bar and sat down at a table around 30 minutes later. My girlfriend informed the waitress that it was my birthday and she seemed to just disregard it and didn’t really give us any time of day. Food was very solid, that part we were happy with. The waitress seemed to push us out after we were done with our food even though we planned on having dessert. I’m sure we just went there on an off day but I’m not sure we’ll go back.

The place had an unpleasant smell. We went for Mother’s Day brunch, but the layout of the restaurant isn’t the best for a buffet. Food was fine, although choices were limited.

This was the second time I ordered tenderloin. The steak was very tender, but it needed some au jus. Please offer au jus with your steaks. That’s a deal-breaker. Steak is just not the same without it. Also, the dinner rolls were not baked thoroughly. They were very doughy and mushy on the inside.

Amazing! Outstanding! Extraordinary! Where to begin? With the hot melt-in-your-mouth bread served with SOFT pats of butter (not unspreadable or concrete like!). Delicious! Then the fish fingers appetizers! Oh my! Delectable! Perfectly seasoned, lightly breaded, delightfully crispy, superbly flaky! These are an appetizer??!! Absolutely fantastic! We thought about canceling our order and just gorging on order after order of these (supplemented with that superb bread! )!! Thankfully, we didn’t! The clam chowder was smooth and creamy, seasoned to perfection, with loads of clams and supporting characters (potatoes among them!). For dinner we had NY strip, salmon florentine, jumbo shrimp, and a family size plate of hashbrowns. Oh it was all SO good! Again, everything cooked and seasoned amazingly well (hashbrowns needed salt, but they always do!), excellent flavor combinations, and all so wonderfully executed. Sara was a great waitress, the hostesses were both delightful, a great inviting and comfortable atmosphere, and truly delicious and enjoyable food from start to finish. What more could you ask for? How about a beautiful sunset over the water? Oh yeah! It delivered that too!! 5 stars! Two thumbs up (or four for both of us)! We will definitely be back! Keep up the great work!!
