Thai food was only so so. Shared the drunken noodles dish with a friend and there was just a distinct lack of flavor. Drunken noodles are kinda my Thai food go to but here it was pretty bland and the chicken seemed over done, almost like pebbles in the meal.

So, this here’s a story all about how my rice got flipped, turned upside down. But not really upside down. First off, I love the location. Not even joking. It reminds me of this great Thai place I used to go to back when I was young. There only appeared to be one server, so you may imagine my surprise at how good service was. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. The food tasted spectacular. I got it as spicy as it comes but it wasn’t enough, that’s why it only gets four stars. Yes I know that’s preference, but isn’t that all a review is?

The tom yum soup was fine although nothing special, and the curry was fatty and bland. My wife vomited right after eating the curry. Also the prices are high. This may still be the best Thai restaurant in Ann Arbor, but that says more about the other Thai places. There are several Korean restaurants in AA much better than this, and some much better Vietnamese places as well.

My husband and I had lunch at Marnee Thai this afternoon. It was our first and last visit. Let me start by saying that we’ve enjoyed Thai food thru out the US and Canada, so I feel we have a pretty good idea of what good Thai tastes like. The food at Marnee is terrible! We both shared the coconut soup with chicken. It arrived looking really gross, putting it mildly. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste much better than it appeared. There were no carrots or onions, just grey soup with old tasting chicken, mushrooms, and small inedible pieces of lemongrass. No garnish, either. It tasted like watered down coconut milk with way too much fish sauce (making it way too salty).

Every time I’ve gone the food has been fantastic! It’s also an amazing value for lunch, and the staff has been friendly every time I’ve gone. My favorite dish there so far is probably the Pad Thai with Chicken. Its certainly the best Pad Thai I’ve had in Ann Arbor, highly recommend it.

Had Open Table reservations each time we’ve went (I highly recommend using it to make reservations). One time we were the only people allowed in because of our reservations which they not only honored, but gave free Thai Iced tea and appetizer for our willingness to wait for a table to open after our reservation time. They seem to vary in how busy they are. Weekdays are less busy than weekends. The food is very good and service is good. Things have never been too spicy or sweet. The hotness levels are spot on. It is a place I would like to frequent more often.

I had the panang red curry, which was very tasty. The guy working there seemed to have little interest in making sure you enjoyed your visit, but the food made up for his lack of enthusiasm. Decent prices, but not cheep. Overall satisfied, and I’d go again if I was in the area of town.

Dry not spicy flavorless noodles. Prices online are not actual prices. Expensive & Really poor quality. Bad execution and Inhospitable staff. First visit and last visit. I called to get my money back and got hung up on. Save your money and buy frozen food, over cook it and then burn $40. You’ll have a better time than at Marnee Thai.

General atmosphere nice. Food okay. Pad Thai had a ton of noodles, a bit of chicken and tofu–very over-priced at $14. Soup (shrimp) not hot (temperature-wise) but a medium-spice on it was hot. Chicken Satay okay. Spotty drinking glasses. Ladies restroom okay but really could use a deep cleaning. Sadly, we won’t come back again.

Marnee Thai provides a great value at lunchtime. You get a nice fresh salad and egg rolls with a decent sized lunch portion. The dinner menu is delicious and prepared on order with attention to your particular needs–as a vegetarian I feel confident ordering something prepared without fish/oyster sauce and that it will, in fact, come out of the kitchen veg.
