I absolutely love this place and can’t wait to take my partner when he gets to the island. I think it’s so cool that you get to watch the noodles being made fresh in front of you. They have so many different choices to choose from. I got the curry. Don’t forget to ask for a fireball to add in to make it spicy. I love that you can just grab everything as you go to add on. They have everything from fried crab to fried zucchini. I got the small and for me it was a pretty big portion

The line can get pretty long (up to 45 mins) but the noodles and tempura are worth the wait!! The noodles themselves are very cheap but the tempura can add up if you get multiple. I had the Kitsune and the Beef udon and I really loved the beef one! The matcha here was also very good and my favorite tempura was the crab!! Heard great things about this udon shop and finally got a chance to try it! Happy to say that it did not disappoint! My daughter and I tried the popular Niku Tama udon (cold, but can be ordered hot), while my son and hubby tried the Curry Udon. There’s a bunch of tempura add-ons too, if you want a little extra. We all loved it! Staff was friendly and helpful as well. My son says he wants to come back again, so that’s a good sign!

The lines for this place are usually ridiculously long, which is why we came during an off hour (around 3:30-4pm). Good value and delicious food! Got the nikutama udon, mushrooms, rolled egg, and the calamansi-ade. First time trying calamansi and I quite enjoyed the citrus taste, and of course the sweet beef in the udon was so tasty. Would recommend, but expect a wait.

Nice house noodles, soft and tough like gluten in thick and smooth texture. The soup smells sea weed. Worth trying! It’s not the typical white udon.

Every time I’m craving Udon, this is where I go. I’ve been here a total of 5 times and counting, and their Nikutama udon always hits the spot. Not to mention they have plentiful tempura sides to choose from! Service is quick and the food is always delicious.

I spent the afternoon walking around Chinatown and decided to grab a bite here. I’d been meaning to try this place but I always see a line out the door at their Kūhiō location (this location didn’t have a wait and only three other tables were occupied) so if you don’t want to wait and can get around easily, maybe this is the location for you.

I was hesitant about Marugame because the Waikiki location is so touristy, but now I understand why it’s so popular. This was the best bowl of udon I’ve ever had. Maybe the best noodles of any kind I’ve ever had. Everything here is made fresh, including rolling and cutting the noodles right in front of us. They have the perfect springy bite and absorb the broth you choose. I ordered the curry udon and the curry was very rich and flavorful, not made from an instant packet. The tempura section is also half the reason to come here. You can pick from a great selection of hot and freshly fried tempura. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the tamagoyaki was outstanding. I’m still thinking about this meal the next day. It’s that good.

Very nice Udon reataurant chain in Honolulu. I always want to go to Marugame when I come visit honolulu. Udon noodle texture is exceptional and the broth is original. I tried the curry udon which is very nice taste. Always love the noodles here. Pricewise also very economical compared to other restaurants in this area. They also offer free parking so enjoy its perk!
