My first time here! Why did I wait! Home cooked and omg delicious! Small, friendly, awesome service. Pancake yummy! Delicious home potatoes, nothing fancy but you feel like family.

Great mom and pop cafe for breakfast and lunch. Large portions at a fair price. Got the daily special, Chicken Fried Steak with 3 eggs, fried potatoes, and wheat toast. Also got The Biggies omelette with sausage, mushrooms, onion, tomatoes, peppers, and chili on top, fried potatoes and wheat toast. Both were very tasty.

Very small and cool place Very nice people BUT not worth the money for average food and average serving size. For example a VERY small glass of juice is $3.50. I wanted to love this place from what I’ve heard from other people but I just couldn’t do it just being honest. But I wish them luck and I hope they stay around a lot. Lonfor the people who like it but not worth the drive or money for my taste.

Mary Etta’s Cafe in Flinn Springs has been serving delicious food since 1949. They are located at 14809 Olde Highway 80, El Cajon, California. My husband brought me here 30 years ago when we first started dating. The food back then was absolutely delicious. The staff was efficient, funny, and inviting. Even the chef would turn around and interact with all the customers. It was a very pleasurable dining experience. It was more like a family gathering instead of customers at a restaurant. My husband and I were in the area this morning and decided to stop in for breakfast/lunch. I ordered a hamburger and my husband ordered the sausage patty, eggs, and potatoes. Much to our sheer delight nothing has changed…the staff is still efficient, warm, and inviting, and they still have absolutely delicious food. Thank you for remaining the same great place that you have always been. Love this place!

We drove by Mary Etta’s Cafe on the way to Flynn Springs and knew I would return for lunch. It’s an old diner which I just loved and a bit on the small side, only three booths and we lucked-out getting one. Plenty of seats at the counter where you can watch the man on the grill. My girl and I each got the cheeseburger with fries (11.75) and I have to say one of the best burgers I’ve eaten in my nearly sixty four years of burger eating. The meat was fresh ground beef which made it super delicious, cold lettuce, onions, lots of sliced pickles and squeeze bottles of mayo, mustard and ketchup…my perfect way of eating a burger. Super happy with my lunch and our server was smiling and attentive. Highly recommend you visit.

The atmosphere and waitress we’re second to NONE!! This is omelette was recommended by the waitress…A LOT of for for the price! Delicious hi homemade salsa to boot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The omelette was cooked to perfection, not over or under cooked. Leaving with a happy feeling inside…

Just like going into your favorite old country, Cafe. Actually, I love the friendly laid down atmosphere. Everyone we met coming and going said hi, how ya doing. Just gave it a 4 star because there are some that don’t like that kind of place. Hope they visit somewhere else, ha. It was a 10 star for us.

If I could give this place a zero I would. Walked in to this place hungry as hell after a fun experience in some tourist attraction in alpine. Walked in and was stared up and down and scanned. Why? Good question! Never felt so disrespected. Not just that there was absolutely no greeting, nor direction; I sat at the diner and was glared at by all who sat around and the waitress saw me, made eye contact with me and point blank gave me the ugliest stare that made me feel very unwelcome, offered no direction, no greeting, just ignored me, gave me her back and proceeded to go behind me and talk to another table and greet another table and take another table’s order. The kitchen and stove looked really badly beat up and not to clean. The entire staff gave me some of the most ugliest stares walking in and leaving. Never plan to sit in there ever again.
