Getting bored on the highway? This is a ten minute diversion worth your time. An old stone drive in only experience from the past. There don’t seem to be too many places like this left. The carhop service was really nice, and quick too. There’s no place to dine in so get comfy in your car. Our orders came out quick and they corrected a couple minor issues promptly. We just tried some root beer floats, but they also have a decent selection of American grill fare. We will plan to stop by again to try that. The root beer was good, no complaints there. There’s a decent size parking lot and it seems to fill up fast. Thanks for a good experience!

Mason’s is an old fashioned, pull up style restaurant specializing in grab and go food, ice cream and home made root beer. Upon pulling into the facility you will be greeted by a server at your car who is there to answer any questions you may have or take your order. First timers will want to take a moment to explore the many options this place has to offer.

We stopped by this place on a recommendation especially to get a big frosty mug of Root Beer. We were told by the car hop that since Co-vid they didn’t use them anymore. (Even though they still advertise it.) Instead it was in a regular soda cup with a lid and straw. It was a very off-tasting root beer that we didn’t even finish. Our order of chicken tenders were small and not very tasty. The fries were very good however, and the best thing they served us. My wife took one bite of the coleslaw and threw the rest in the trash, so I didn’t even try it. The service by the car hop lady was excellent. Too bad the food was overall so bad.

A five-star review is a rare event for me but this place earned it. I was taking a trip up to Indy and some friends told me that I had to try this place out. I’m glad that I listen to them.

Customer service was great here. The food however was very disappointing. The burgers were soggy and cold also lacking flavor. The mushrooms tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. The sundae didn’t have much chocolate. The chicken strips are pitiful, they look like shavings of chicken thinly coated and fried. The chicken sandwich was low quality. You can get a better chicken sandwich off McDonald’s value menu and pay less too. Overall it was terrible. The only positive thing i have to say is that the girls doing the car hopping were very nice and attentive. We took our meal and ate it at the park. If i had eaten it in Masons parking lot i would have asked for a refund. Which i never do. It was really that bad!

Since this is a drive-in dining so I consider that my car gets a 5-star rating. I’ve been eating since I was a little boy. I can never get beyond the coneys, my only choice is do I want small or big coney….the only thing that has change is your frosting mud is a throw away cup. They use to give a very small glass called kiddies, then small, medium and large size but paper cups.

Growing up I’d visit the area to see family and Mason’s has always been a must-do. It’s not fancy by any means but the root beer is always good and I have never been disappointed by a coney in my 25+ years of experience eating their food. Now that I live in the area, it’s one of my go-to places when I need a little nostalgia in my life.
