Masseria is a celebration of big, harmonious flavors and the finest Italian cooking. It earned a Michelin star within Washington, DC’s first-ever guide. The restaurant’s name carries a heartfelt meaning, defining the charming agricultural farm of the Puglia region, which is heavily rooted in Stefanelli’s heritage. Taking the pretense out of fine dining and keeping it to just a whisper through its service. Entering into a handsome courtyard with relaxed seating, Masseria, an exclusive restaurant for 60 guests, combines the raw and simple look of an Italian country estate, the industrial grit of the Union Market district, and the undeniable chic of its fashion-savvy chef-owner.
Nicholas Stefanelli’s Puglian-inspired prix fixe menus served in an Italian country–chic setting. Based on 460 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $$$$

We had an wonderful experience in the past and wanted to visit Masseria again. However, the food this time was very disappointing; some dishes were very salty, some were just flavorless. Our ravioli was probably the worst dish: too doughy and chalky. I am not sure our recent trip to Italy have anything to do with the criticism but I think the restaurant definitely focus more on presenting dishes but miss out on the food mark. Service was fine but certainly not worth 1 ⭐️Michelin. We have been to a lot of Michelin ⭐️ including the Inn Washington and sadly, i dont think Masseria should be on DMV list. Unlikely we will be back here again.

Masseria was one of my favorite tasting menus in DC. We sat at the chef’s counter and got the tasting menu and wine pairing. The meal starts with a homemade kombucha and only gets better. We had 8 dishes beginning with bread, and following up with various plates including a fish, octopus, 2 pastas, and duck. I especially loved the beet dish and linguine (I really really loved the linguine.) They finish things off with a gift bag including some desserts and olive oil. Atmosphere and service were both great. 5 stars.

Wonderful 6 course meal and 2 hour experience. Every dish had its own vibe and flavor pallet, if you are looking for small portions, definitely come here. 8.8/10

The food was dynamite. Some of the best dining I have ever experienced. The flavors were so rich without being overpowering of oversalted or over-spiced–just amazing ingredients extremely well prepared and presented.

This was the best meal I’ve had with my wife in Washington DC, and I can’t believe it was take out. The staff were very friendly and professional and allowed me to wait at the bar for my pickup order. At home the meal included heating and preparation tips which was an excellent touch. A lot of care was put into how well the food would travel and reheat and the restaurant did an amazing job. Every course was perfect and my wife and I were stunned at how transcendent every single component was. We were remiss because we’ve always wanted to eat here in person but both the pandemic and getting childcare has prevented us. After this experience we will absolutely order again and hopefully be able to finally dine in person soon. I can’t recommend their “a casa” service enough, and also recommend adding their desert course.

The food, service, and everything in between are extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted promptly and treated well. The menu is beautifully curated. My wife is pescatarian and they were very accommodating. She doesn’t normally eat octopus, so when it was a course, i was scared she would not be happy. However, the other dishes were so good she tried it and really enjoyed it. I even snick a bite, and i admit… it was prepared perfectly. My wife and I indulged with the wine pairing. The sommelier Kyle explained the wines well and gave us food for thought for our next trip to Italy. From the people delivering the food to those explaining the course, this is must go to place in DC.

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life. So many incredible dishes: cheesy doughnuts, octopus with artichokes, truffle risotto, pumpkin ravioli. The non alcoholic cocktail pairing was a really nice touch ofr my pregnant wife. We did the chefs counter optiin and were able to view the kitchen. Highly recommend as a really pricey yet memorable meal.

Had our wedding anniversary here and they took the time to write a card for us. The food was amazing and the staff was great. They perfectly described each dish and wine paring.

Masseria didn’t disappoint. I had a lovely birthday dinner here. The service was top notch, the restaurant was beautiful, and the food and drinks were amazing. We added the foie gras mini cannoli, which was SO worth it. They even sent us on our way with a gift bag with some goodies. Everything was perfect.
