It’s a shame that this restaurant closed. We only ate there once, but it was delicious. Handmade pasta and sauces, served in a beautiful atmosphere. Such a shame that Massimos closed their doors.

We really, really enjoyed Massimo’s. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere was great and the food was amazing! Better than some of the meals we had in Italy! Everything we ordered was on point – mussels, rocket salad, osso buco, carbonara and delicious panna cotta. Absolutley no complaints. We will definitely be going back to try more!

The BEST restaurant in Bangor hands down. Extremely attentive service, food prepared pristinely. There is nothing bad on the menu. Great atmosphere to have a martini and relax. I’ve lived in New Orleans 19 years and this is one of the only restaurants in Bangor that I recommend to my friends when they visit. Oh and the cocktails are unique and divine!!

Great restaurant! I walked in and could smell the wonderful aroma of Italian cooking. I uneducated did, “Whatever that is, I want some!” The server picked to on our timing and matched it perfectly. We weren’t rushed as some restaurants do. The food was terrific. We ordered a variety of dishes and each one was just perfect. Highly recommend

This has been on our list to try for a couple years. Wish we hadn’t waited so long. I’d give it 5 stars, but the wine list was Very Disappointing! This is an Italian restaurant. But the wine list only had a couple bottles of Italian wine. Everything else was very good. Bar Service was a bit slow. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic of the menu. Overall I’d highly recommend it. And will go back next time we go to Bangor.

Massimo’s is our favorite restaurant in the Bangor area, for many reasons. The chef is joyously inspired, and takes great pride in happy customers. Even though we can’t afford to eat out regularly, we’re greeted like an old friends when we walk in. The specials can be pricey, but there are some wonderful pasta dishes moderately priced. The staff are knowledgeable about the food and wine menus, and have an excellent sense for timing and attentiveness. I agree that the restaurant can get loud when a large group is there; perhaps some sound dampening tiles on the ceiling would preserve the otherwise warm and welcoming ambiance.

My sister and I had been planning to eat here for weeks and finally dined here for the first time tonight. Between the TWO of us, we spent $100. While our server was knowledgeable and great with knowing the menu (very slow service) & we were pretty disappointed when we got the bill. Let me start with the drinks. We ordered cokes (not big drinkers). We were not made aware by the server that our refills were not free ($2.25 each). It also was not stated in the menu anywhere. As we looked over the menu, it was disappointing and were originally just going to order a small appetizer and get something else. The server came over and started spieling the special menu, which was much more appealing so we decided to stay (Pricing for this was not posted anywhere). We ordered an appetizer which was meatballs in marinara topped with fresh Parmesan. I ordered a chicken dish, and my sister ordered lasagna. When the appetizer came out, we were very disappointed to learn that there were 3 meatballs the size of the ones you’d get in a bag of frozen ones, lots of sauce and a little bit of cheese on top. The sauce was very good. However, $14 for 3 tiny meatballs was just ridiculous. Then out came our meals. The lasagna was good. Portion was so/So. The chicken dish ($28) was a very small slice of chicken breast filled with a disgusting filling (almond, basil and ricotta). There were about 8 green beans, and one slice of a sweet potato and one slice of a yellow potato. Again, twenty eight dollars. We also got desert which wasn’t too bad. The tiramisu was good, and my sister got a cheesecake. Both reasonably priced at $8 each. So we paid for our food despite feeling very ripped off, and I left some feedback on our receipt. Well discussing in the car, I decided that once I got home I’d actually call the restaurant and let them know our feedback. This is where it gets appalling.

wonderful meal! the haddock in parchment was moist and flavorful, nice wine selection and and opportunity to taste before ordering. Our waitress very helpful with choosing our entrees, the owner came over to chat after the meal, feels like we are in Boston or New York. fabulous!

I never leave reviews but this place blew my mind. The staff are very attentive, including the chef. The food is real Italian, better than anything in the area. Would recommend to anyone who can enjoy an amazing meal and an amazing experience.

Bold, authentic, flavorful, thoughtfully-prepared Roman fare as good or better than anything you can even get in NYC at this price point. Easily the best restaurant in Bangor. I definitely try to stop in here for dinner anytime I’m in town.
