Inspired by its rich history and 1950s glamour, world-renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has reinvented the iconic MATADOR ROOM with reimagined menus that offer his interpretation of Caribbean, Spanish, and Latin and South American cuisines. Seasonal menus are composed of small and large plates that embrace the freshest, locally sourced, seasonal produce. The space’s original chandelier has been restored and is suspended over the sunken oval dining room that is reminiscent of the glamorous supper clubs of the 1940s and 50s.
Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Latin fare is presented in a historic oval room with an atmospheric bar. Based on 612 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.4 stars. Price $$$

Great occasion restaurant with impeccable service and a great selection on the menu. Very attentive from start to finish with the service but discreet enough with their interactions. Had the Lobster which was cooked impeccably in a lovely buttery sauce.

Speechless. Decor and ambiance are inarguably incredible. But the food… the food is absolutely spectacular. My palette couldn’t believe the explosion of flavors in each dish. We loved the family style approach as we were able to taste many dishes. Amazing wine and cocktail selection, as well.

The food is really good, but the atmosphere outside makes it 5 stars. The shrimp, steak, and chocolate cake were amazing! The tuna tartar app wasn’t good – almost no flavor and overpriced, so skip that one. Overall, amazing experience! And you gotta love the Edition….world class.

Do not come here. Our party of 2 arrived for an 8pm reservation. We were seated and waited quite a while to be acknowledged. Once we were finally able to order we attempted to order 3 dishes. After the 2nd dish was ordered our server rudely said “I’m going to stop you there” and would not allow for us to order the 3rd dish. After our 2 dishes arrived and we ate them, see below for details regarding the dishes, we decided to leave as it had taken an exorbitant amount of time to be waited on, we even attempted to order the 3rd dish 3 times with no one taking our order. Upon receiving our check we were issued an18% gratuity fee which was not deserved as the service was horrible. Addiotionally the check was $104 for 2 drinks, 6 shrimp and 5 cheese fritters. When we explained our frustration considering how highly priced the food items are and the upscale restaurant, the server said “I don’t have time, I have 4 other tables waiting for me.” Additionally, we were asked multiple times if we were hotel guests as if that should make a difference on how you treat a customer. Matador, you have some serious management problems. Apparently you had a bunch of people call in sick with only one waiter. However you had 4-5 “waiter assistants” and still no service. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This restaurant is inside a nice hotel in Miami Beach. Nice area. Are you walk into the restaurant you are able to notice the circular layout of the tables which looks very nice. We were greeted and promptly seated. Our waiter Sultan introduced himself right away and our si ig experience began. After looking at the menu we decided to share 3 dishes. Starting with avocado pizza, beautifully laid out avocado slices with sautéed onions under them with some greens and lime, on a perfectly cooked dough. This dish could have used a bit more seasoning. Overall it was good. Then the grilled octopus was executed to perfection, tender, not chewy, crispy outside, on a smoked paprika sauce, this was an excellent dish. Lastly we enjoyed the seared snapper on a habanero lime sauce (that exploded with flavor, not excessive heat), and thyme roasted brussel sprouts. Another excellent dish. For dessert we had the warm chocolate cake and the coconut tres leches and both were outstanding, not overly sweet, perfect portion size. Service during our meal was exceptional, our waiter was very attentive yet not intrusive. Overall this was a very good dining experience and I would certainly return.

We had the best time at Matador room, and a large thank you needs to go to the Edition Hotel staff! Before dinner, we went to the bar outside the restaurant for a drink. Great cocktails, and then we’re pleasantly surprised to be treated to our drinks as a welcome to Miami. Up the stairs and at the restaurant, we got one of the best tables in the place, a two seater with a view of the restaurant. Here to celebrate a birthday, our waiter Matthew absolutely made our evening. Helpful from the menu selections to spacing out the courses, he was a rockstar.

Great and cozy restaurant, inside a hotel. We sat inside, because of the heat. Service was absolutely top notch, everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable.
