I came here for lunch and I enjoyed my meal! I got the Riviera baguette with the plant-based feta substitute. I felt like something was missing in terms of flavor, but then I realized that the normal feta would have added the flavor that it was missing. If you do substitute the cheese, either add salt or ask for a spread or dip to complement the flavors. I thought the atmosphere was precious, and it reminded me a lot of Paris. Unfortunately, I was a bit underwhelmed by the baguette. It seemed to be a bit more dense than what I am used to. It’s definitely not the quality you would get in dedicated bakeries.

The coffee is nice, the food was good enough. The French onion soup was a little too salty, but the rest was nice. The atmosphere is nice as well, but the furniture looks a bit unloved, it needs to be cleaned, especially the sofas. The stuff is sweet. The place is child friendly, which is nice. I would come back to it.

A friend of mine that lives in Philly was so excited to take me to Matines Cafe and I was not disappointed! The pastries were so fresh, flaky, and melt in your mouth. The tea latte I got was to die for. Also the ambiance is so French and quaint. They have outdoor seating that I’m sure is super nice once the weather warms up! Only let down was that they were out of crepes when we ordered

Was excited to try this place, so we tried a few things on the menu, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype. The chocolate croissant barely had filling, just 2 small lines down the sides, and it was a bit soggy. The sandwiches were $15 and came on a miniature croissant the size of half a sandwich. The “croque monsieur” tasted decent. The truffle egg sandwich was bland. The la colombe coffee was good. Would not return.

We went to Matines for a Sunday brunch and loved our experience- the food, the vibe and the staff were amazing! It’s such a cute, quaint, authentic French café decorated with Parisian art and decor; they even have French music playing and French and Europe art/goods/food for sale inside. It’s nice to not have to deal with center city madness/parking too since it’s in Chestnut Hill neighborhood. It’s a small space but they have a good amount of indoor seating and outdoor seating also. Food was super fresh and I recommend the Rose Latte (pictured) and Versailles baguette. I’ll definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I came here a few months ago for the chestnut hill on Ice event and it’s a very cute and quaint cafe, we got the coffee ice cream with the waffle and it was excellent. The cafe has cute little trinkets you can buy also. I would definitely come back again in the future and I highly recommend.

Delicious brunch and pastry options. Small sitting area inside that gets crowded on weekends but also has outdoor patio seating which is just as charming. I had the fanciest avocado toast topped with feta, a balsami drizzle, and orchid! Would highly recommend!

Simply outstanding. A smallish place, and frequently jammed with people standing in line. Everything with a French theme. Entrees generous.

We came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was delicious. We had to wait in line for approximately 20 minutes, but it was worth the wait! We were easily able to get a table after we paced our order at the counter, and the food came out pretty fast. Our dish favorite was the Provence baguette.
