I’ve never once had a bad meal here. My wife and I drive up from Madison occasionally because it’s the best sushi in the whole state. We use to live much closer but I can’t find a place in Madison that has the flavor close to Matsu-Ya. Red might be thee closest but that’s too expensive. I tip my cap to the folks that work there. Service is always amazing and the quality of the food is outstanding.

Food is amazing here. Go there every time someone in the family is celebrating their birthday. My favorite rolls are the cherry bomb, spicy California, dragon roll, Philadelphia roll, and I love the Tako Yaki. Even when I visited Iceland, a place known for their fresh fish delivered daily, their sushi was just not Matsuya level. The ramen is damn good too. Also love the ramune (Japanese soda). So good. 10/10 on food. Once a waiter forgot my friends soup, and another time his salad. Unfortunate, but mistakes happen. If you’re looking for great sushi, this is the restaurant. My family LOVES this place.

My experience at the American sushi restaurant was incredibly delicious. I was impressed by the craftsmanship of the sushi chefs. I had the opportunity to enjoy unique American twists and savor new flavors. The ambiance of the restaurant was sophisticated, providing a calm space to enjoy the sushi. The staff provided excellent service, being kind and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant to those who want to indulge in American-style sushi. However, be prepared for slightly higher prices, so it’s advisable to visit with a flexible budget. Overall, American sushi restaurants offer a delightful and satisfying experience.

It is truly fresh and delicious. Aside from the overly liberal sprinkling of cream cheese (in sushi?!?), it’s city sushi in a small town. The menu is excellent. I’ve tried just about everything, and I’ve not been disappointed. The Tataki is perfectly seasoned. Salads are fresh and delicious. Food prep/sushi bar is very clean! The service has been very slow, but that is everywhere. One of the few places in Steven’s Point that I still regularly patronize.

I mostly enjoyed my dinner here. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I sat at the sushi bar. I asked the person making rolls his favorite to make, unfortunately it was one not on the menu. I liked the tea, the green salad was petite and for me the perfect size. I wish the menu had some photos, it’s really hard to pick based on the names alone… unless maybe you’re a sushi expert. 4 stars for the menu and the atmosphere, just so so. Otherwise, I would go back. Sushi seemed fresh and tasted good. Things looked clean.

Matsu Ya never lets us down. Every sushi roll is fresh and perfectly done. We had the Tako Yaki for an app, a Taco Roll, Fire Dragon Roll and Spicy Cali roll for dinner last night and all were exceptional. Though they were out of Plum wine, the flight of sake we tried went down well. The server was prompt, knowledgeable and kept a good eye on our drinks throughout the meal.
