I was super disappointed in this place. Normally I LOVE BYOB Omakase places, but the whole sitting outside thing I really didn’t like. The chef was great, and could tell the constant flies buzzing around me was upsetting me… I appreciate he would use his torch to fry the flies that were bugging me. I just don’t like sweating and swatting flies while trying to appreciate Omakase. Like I said, the chef was great and clearly invested, but I even asked to be seated inside and the host refused. I won’t be back.

One of the best sushi I’ve had in my life. Went when the omakase was 78$ and I feel like it won’t be priced the same soon. It was a lot of sushis for that price and the quality was amazing. All the sushis had simething special in the way they were prepared and the chef we had was super friendly

This was certainly a unique experience. It’s BYOB and on the cheaper side, which is great. However, the fish didn’t taste as fresh as other places I’ve been, and the flavor profiles were a bit off. We got to the reservation on time, but because it’s close quarters in there, they gave us the choice to wait in their outdoor dining “shed” in 15° weather or stand outside and look in. TLDR, this isn’t the worst place to have a first omakase experience, but if you’ve been to a lot of spots, the only real draw is price and BYOB

second time coming to matsunori and have tried both their weekend omakase and weekday chef tasting menu. this cozy omakase spot has excellent value and is much better than some of the more gimmicky omakase locations in the city. i personally love their steamed egg appetizer in the chefs menu and would also recommend their home made yuzu sake. this is also a BYOB spot so super fun for a weekend dinner option

Great intimate restaurant with only 10 seats. We had the chef special and it was totally worth it and we felt full and well after it. Probably it is more interesting than the standard menu which is uniquely sushi. The chef special is the standard menu plus 3 dishes.

$80 omakase in about an hour that’s byow is 5 stars for me. Solid omakase that is quick but not rushed. Food was tasty and enjoyable and appropriately proportioned for most eaters. Mostly played the hits, tuna, salmon, mackerel and yellowtail, which I liked. Make a reservation, splurge on a bottle of wine that you wouldn’t normally buy in a restaurant because of the mark up & enjoy!

$68 for an appetiser, 12 pieces of sushi (including uni and truffles!) plus a hand roll and dessert is an absolute steal! Go while they are still BYOB and the omakase is this cheap, no way they can keep this price for long.

Not only the best omakase I’ve had, but the best restaurant hands down! When we first walked in we were surprised by the tiny space. But don’t let that distract you! Our master chef Michael took great care of me and my partner for out anniversary dinner. Fish were fresh, and the techniques were professional. Our favorite was the eel + foie gras – will definitely be back again for that!

Seems like people reviewing this place have never been to omakase. I was disappointed. This place was ranked very highly when I searched for omakase and I was expecting decent quality. It fell short of my expectations. The uni tasted off, and the whole experience was disappointing…I would skip and look elsewhere. Understand pricing is a point but to spend an extra 20 for a superior experience is worth it for sushi.
