A little disappointing, food not great. Expected better, FraDiavalo was over the top hot so not enjoyable. Had a dish with hot sausage and broccoli rabe but also not tasty, sausage was more like very charred bits of meat, way too many onions in the dish and not very flavorful. They do serve good sized portions but I will not be back.

Stop searching, you just found the best spot in town! No joke, we’ve been all over NJ eating at all kinds of great places, but Matta Donna is a HIDDEN GEM! Here’s what ya do: show up and don’t worry about parking, they are definitely busy but there’s plenty of room. Get seated super quick (because fast service of course). Get that perfect beverage, then go straight to the pizza menu and get the goat cheese and caramelized onion, large. Pick the most difficult to pronounce meat topping, add peppers, extra cheese, plus anything else you like. It’s going to be AMAZING. But the special seasoning is the service. The people here treat you like family. They will make sure your meal is perfect, and love to chat. You’ll have an awesome meal all around. Humble opinion: Nobody leaves as a stranger. Best service and dining by far!

Eh. Switched one pasta for another and while handing me my food the waitress mentions she forgot to tell the kitchen about my substitute. Prices were higher than on the menu. Had high hopes but everything from the food to the service fell flat.

Service amazing, pasta delicious! I wasn’t wowed over the calamari it was a bit thin and the sauce said peppers and I definitely didn’t expect jalapeños at an Italian restaurant. But! The pasta! As a jersey native it’s rare that I will eat pasta in my current state and always want to try when I am home. This was such a. Treat! Tagliatelle, marscapone cream, lemon, and lots of fresh arugula. Amazing! The service was helpful and sweet! Definitely recommend.

Friendly, sat at the bar, Gary was great, attentive and prompt with the next drink. The food was amazing, had the little neck clams in white wine followed by the filet mignon, highly recommend.

The food is great. Very tasty. I put only 1 star because of the price surprise that I got at the end. The price on the menu and the price on the bill were completely different. The price on EVERYTHING was 25% higher. The menu stated in very small print that ‘prices may vary’. Of course, I didn’t see that, and the waiter didn’t mention it to us either. I was so shocked by this episode, so I shared my bad experience with family and friends to find out if this is normal restaurant behavior. I guess not.
